2026-27 Financial Aid: Be Known, Be Done, May 1
The school year is winding down, and summer will be here before you know it!
Before you leave campus for the summer, it’s important to be prepared financially for fall 2026. You may have some outstanding financial aid tasks, and it’s important to start working on those now so you have an accurate picture of your fall balance.
Here are the steps you should complete by May 1:
- Do you want to access federal financial aid? File your 2026-27 FAFSA as soon as possible if you have not done so already.
- Did you use loans this year? Are you planning to use them next year? You can accept or decline your federal Stafford loans today in MyGeorgeFox. (If you change your mind, we can always adjust them later!) Here are some instructions on how to do that.
- Considering a Parent PLUS Loan or a private loan? Compare the two options here. (Loan applications open May 1!)
- Has your family’s financial situation changed since 2024? If you’ve had a change of circumstance, or if you had a Professional Judgment this year for special circumstances that will continue next year, request a PJ.
- Check your MyGeorgeFox To Do List for any specific tasks we may have assigned you.
Why May 1? Summer is the time to plan how you’re going to make your payment on Aug. 15. We will continue to send reminder emails over the next few months to ensure you complete everything by May 1, so keep an eye on your George Fox email!
