The posting and display policy at George Fox applies to student-sponsored public displays, posters, and chalking. This updated policy is designed to support your events and initiatives while keeping our campus clean and welcoming.

Here is a basic definition of each:

• Displays generally consist of a number of images or ideas intended to engage the campus community, create awareness, or generate discussion.
• Posters are typically used to advertise a specific event or promote activities for an officially recognized club or organization.
• Chalking is the act of writing or drawing with water-soluble chalk on approved outdoor surfaces.

You can find all the details you need in the Student Handbook’s “Policy for Student Posters, Displays, and Chalking” section.

Key reminders:

• Please read these specific policies carefully to ensure your materials are approved and compliant.
• All posters, displays, and chalking content must be approved by the Office of Student Life before being placed.
• Only post on designated bulletin boards, posting kiosks, or sandwich boards.
• Do not post on walls, windows or doors. Also, please note that chalking is prohibited on vertical surfaces, under overhangs, or on the Crisman Crossing bridge or the chapel sidewalks.
• Use push pins or removable tape only, and remember to remove your materials once your event is over.

Serve Day is just a few days away! We’re excited for a great day of serving alongside one another on Wednesday, Sept. 16. You will receive communication today regarding your team number, serve site and additional details.

Here is a look at the schedule for the day: 

• 8 a.m.: Join us on the quad to pack a sack lunch. Lunch lines open at 8 a.m. and close at 9 a.m. Lunch is free for all participants.
• 9 a.m.: The kickoff ceremony on the quad begins, when you’ll meet with your site team at numbered stakes on the quad and get prepared for your day.
• 9:25 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Travel to and serve at your assigned site.
• 3-5 p.m.: Join us for a celebration on the quad 

A few additional reminders:

• Participation is required.
• Closed-toed shoes are a must.
• No location or transportation changes are allowed.
• Remember your water bottle, sunscreen, and any prescribed medications (e.g. EpiPen).
• Inform your team leader about your medications.

Looking for a place to connect, grow in your faith, and build community this fall? Life Groups are back!

Life Groups are small groups of undergraduate students who meet weekly for five weeks for prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. Each meeting is one hour, and participating students are eligible to receive spiritual life credit.

• Session 2: Oct. 19 – Nov. 16

The Bruin Community Pantry is looking for dedicated, food-loving volunteers to help nourish our students on Wednesdays throughout the semester.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare a Meal: Cook delicious, balanced meals for 20-plus community members once a week or whatever work best with your schedule.
• Plan & Create: Cook at home, then bring your meal to the pantry to serve students and community members during our hours of operation.
• Engage with Students: Students love visiting with George Fox staff.

All are welcome to join in a time of Quaker open worship in the chapel today (Wednesday) from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

This will be a quiet time of waiting before the Lord. Alternative chapel credit is available.

Afterwards, Paul Anderson will turn a page of the St. John’s Bible for those who are interested. Every Wednesday this term, Paul will showcase Volume 1 (Pentateuch), with interpretive comments being made on Genesis 1 (Creation) to Genesis 2-3 (Garden of Eden).

The Office for Spiritual Life has a webpage to help you get connected with local churches. At the Fox County Fair on Friday, Sept. 11, various churches will be present so you can get acquainted with pastors and ministry opportunities.

In addition, a number of area churches are sending September shuttles to our campus to make it easy for you to get to church. The following churches have worked with the spiritual life office and have agreed to ensure your safety by adhering to these university stipulations: two representatives in the vehicle, a sign clearly marking the vehicle, and pick-up and drop-off offered before and after services.

It’s Outside Day with Outdoor Recreation! This weekend, we’ll be running twice the volume of trips in order to get as many people in the outdoors as possible. We are climbing, rafting, hiking, and so much more.

Audition sign-ups are now open for George Fox’s fall production of Shakespeare in Love. This delightful romantic comedy follows Will Shakespeare and a host of colorful characters in their attempt to produce the greatest romanic play ever written.

The Undiscovered C.S. Lewis Conference is seeking student and staff volunteers for shifts over its four-day run, from Thursday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 27.

The conference will host 250 international scholars and fans of C.S. Lewis’s writing, while also exploring the broader contributions of Inklings like J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, and more. The conference is the largest C.S. Lewis gathering in the world, and a truly special biennial event on campus.
