Tickets are now available for the performing arts department’s fall production of The Hiding Place, scheduled for eight performances in Wood-Mar Auditorium in mid to late October.

Dates for the shows are as follows:

• Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 17-19, 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 p.m.
• Thursday-Friday, Oct. 24-25, 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 26-27, 2 p.m.

For a synopsis of the play, visit the theatre website. Students and staff are entitled to claim one free ticket for themselves by visiting georgefox.edu/box-office. Additional tickets may be purchased on the site. Free student tickets are available for Thursday shows only.

When selecting your complimentary tickets, please do so using your own George Fox email address, and please note that each person is instructed to claim only their own ticket.

Every other year, the Office of Student Life distributes a survey to assess athletic and recreational interest and participation. The purpose of the survey is to determine the extent to which the athletic and recreational interests and abilities of students at George Fox University are being met by the current recreational, intramural, club and intercollegiate athletic offerings.

Last week, you received an email from the Office of Student Life about completing this survey. If you have not completed it already, we encourage you to do so! Here is a link to the survey. It should require less than 10 minutes of your time.

The information, which is being requested from all students, will be used by the university for evaluation, research and planning purposes. Please note that all responses are strictly confidential. No personal identifying information is collected, and while we do ask for some demographic information, this information cannot be used to identify you.

Discussing new topics every week about the intersection of Christianity in our modern moment, students come together in the breaking of bread and seminar discussions to hear new opinions and examine our own beliefs. We do this as worship, and would love for you to join us.

The Miles for Meals Challenge begins tomorrow! Aren’t you excited? We already have 18 amazing teams and almost 80 participants registered, with more people joining every day.

If you are a participant:

• Make a donation to the Bruin Community Pantry. During the first week of the challenge we will focus on fresh produce, though all items from the list are welcome. You can also donate money or set up monthly donations through Employee Giving.
• Sync your device to track your miles automatically (for instructions, click here). You can also manually enter your miles and other activities using these conversions. Yes, you can dance, play miniature golf, or house clean for the pantry!
• Encourage others to join be registering here.

Don’t forget that two $50 Fred Meyer gift cards will be awarded weekly, and the team with the highest average number of miles will win a $150 Fred Meyer gift card for each team member!

The best part? When we reach our goal of 5,000 collective miles, local businesses will make monetary donations to support the pantry.

Transfer students: Help celebrate National Transfer Student Week, coming up on Oct. 21-25! We want to create space to celebrate the current and prospective transfer students in the George Fox community.

During Bruin Preview on Friday, Oct. 25, we will be hosting a panel of current students called “Tips for Transfer” from 11 a.m. to noon, where you can share your transfer experience and advice with our visiting students. We would love for you to join us if you are available.

We also want to celebrate our current transfer students by sharing your transfer stories with the George Fox community throughout the week leading up to Bruin Preview.

During the summer of 2024, the strategic education services team hosted over 70 high school students on the George Fox campus for the Pre-College Institute program. We are looking for faculty/staff to teach a concentration of their choosing for Pre-College Institute 2025!

This is a one-week opportunity for high schoolers to learn from George Fox faculty and current students, immerse themselves in college living, and explore different majors. Some of the content areas we hosted this year included nursing, engineering, theatre, anatomy and more.

We are looking for faculty and staff who can teach a concentration next summer, scheduled the week of June 22-27 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. daily.

Over time, the conversation on political issues has become more personal and difficult to navigate. Social media makes it easier to disagree without resolution. Through this series, we will grow in our ability to have civil conversations together.
