The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be hosting Summer Visit Day on campus this Friday, July 26. With more than 350 visitors expected on campus, we are asking George Fox students and employees to help extend the Be Known promise throughout the day. Here’s what you can keep in mind:

• Use street parking instead of campus parking lots. Guests will be arriving on campus Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. and will fill the main campus parking lots.
• All visitors will take a campus tour at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.; be mindful of guests walking through main buildings on campus.

Each year, the university honors the extraordinary contributions of our faculty, staff and administrators through our “Faculty of the Year,” “Staff of the Year” and “Administrator of the Year” awards. Faculty award recipients received their awards this past spring; staff and administrators will be awarded at the all-community meeting on Monday, Aug. 19.

The George Fox University Library is excited to announce a new look and improved functionality for over 90 of our online databases on the EBSCOhost platform. These include APA PsycINFO, CINAHL, Education Source, ATLA Religion, and Business Source Complete.

This shift will take place over the week of July 22, with some small updates continuing into the month of August. Throughout the transition, you can still access all of our databases from the “Databases A-Z” button on the library’s website. Existing permalinks should continue to function.

We’ve created an introduction video, but we welcome you to connect with a librarian or make a research help appointment if you would like one-on-one assistance or have further questions.

The upcoming all-community meeting on Monday, Aug. 19, will be a time for celebration and looking ahead toward our shared aspirations for the 2024-25 academic year.

During the meeting, we will also be celebrating some amazing accomplishments, including employees who have milestone service anniversaries this year. These are employees who have completed five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service at George Fox!

We are excited to announce that on Friday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., we will be hosting our Community Fair during Welcome Weekend on the quad.

The Office for Spiritual Life is looking for Life Group leaders for our fall 2024 Life Groups series (the weeks of Sept. 16 through Oct. 28). Life Groups are small groups of undergraduate students who meet together for prayer, Bible study and fellowship. Groups meet weekly for 60 to 90 minutes.

This fall our groups will be either in person or completely via Zoom. Life Groups through the Office for Spiritual Life led by a George Fox staff or faculty member will be SpiL-credit eligible in order to encourage students to engage in high-quality spiritual formation experiences that are participatory and offer ongoing community.

The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival is a time-honored tradition, and this summer George Fox is once again planning to march in the grand parade on Saturday, July 27. We invite you to join in marching with us from 10 a.m. to noon.

Staging occurs at Renne Field behind Edwards Elementary School (please note staging for the parade takes place at 9 a.m.). This is an amazing opportunity to celebrate our connection and love for Newberg!
