Sunday, April 5th, 2020

For those of you using Zoom video conference, be aware that “Zoom-bombing” has become an issue as remote learning has become the norm. For recent advice on how to ensure that your Zoom meetings are secure, visit the Zoom blog.

You can also find helpful advice from George Fox Libraries here. Zoom updated the default screen-sharing privileges so the host is the only one able to share content. This setting can be adjusted before or during the meeting.

Hadlock’s trick shot contest begins today

Sunday, April 5th, 2020

The Hadlock Student Center is hosting a trick shot contest! Submissions will be open from today (Monday) through Sunday, April 12, through our Instagram and Facebook accounts. Participants are to use the hashtag #HSCTrickshot to enter their submission in one of two categories:

  • Basketball Trick Shot Category (must be done on a regulation basketball hoop of 10 feet, either indoor or outdoor)
  • Miscellaneous Trick Shot Category (use your imagination here … indoor golf putting/chipping, soccer shots, Frisbee in the trash can, indoor over-the-door basketball hoop, ping-pong balls, socks in the laundry basket, etc.)

The top videos will be recognized during the week of April 20, and we’ll have some cool prizes for the top videos in each category.

Competition rules:

  • All current George Fox undergraduate and graduate students, along with faculty and staff, are eligible for this competition.
  • Be safe! Practice social distancing, protect yourself and others (CDC guidelines: cdc.gov).
  • In each video, someone needs to visibly give a “Two thumbs up” to the camera (either to start or finish each video) or verbally say “two thumbs up” to indicate that this video is specifically for this competition. Without the “two thumbs up” component the video will not qualify.
  • Each contest participant can upload a maximum of two videos in total. This can be two videos for one category or one video for each category.

You can absolutely complete this solo and even in the comfort of your own home. We are not encouraging you to physically socialize in this process and do anything that might put you or others at additional risk.

Student Accounts processing personal checks through MyGeorgeFox

Friday, April 3rd, 2020

Student Accounts is now processing personal checks through my.georgefox.edu. This payment method allows for swift, secure and safe payment handling. An added benefit is that payments generate a receipt to the student that can be forwarded to whomever made payment on their account.

To make future payments online directly, please visit our website to learn how and to authorize access for others to make payments on your behalf. You will find that once the bank account information is saved, the payment process is very quick. No fee is charged for submitting e-check payments. Thank you for helping us in this way!

This change impacts personal check payments only. Other payments require customary handling and will experience a slight delay.

Contact Jenny Getsinger (jgetsing@georgefox.edu) if you have any questions.
