Tuition exchange application is now open

Monday, September 16th, 2019

The fall 2020 application for tuition exchange at participating universities is now open to undergraduate dependents of eligible employees.

Tuition exchange is a competitive scholarship process for attendance at participating universities other than George Fox. This is different than tuition remission, which is an employee benefit for eligible employees and their dependents who desire to attend George Fox University. Tuition remission enrollment applications and deadlines come from Human Resources.

For details about the Tuition Exchange Program and eligibility, please review this informational brochure and the employee handbook sections 4.8.1 and 4.9.

If you meet the outlined eligibility requirements, please submit your dependent’s information on this form.

Employees who currently have dependents receiving tuition exchange do not need to resubmit their dependent’s information. Nothing further is required for current awardees at this time.

Questions can be directed to the university’s tuition exchange officer, Janelle Freitag, at jfreitag@georgefox.edu.

Learn about the Peace Corps tomorrow

Monday, September 16th, 2019

Peace Corps Recruiter Scot Roskelley will be on campus tomorrow (Wednesday) to talk with students about opportunities for service in the Peace Corps. Roskelley is hosting a recruitment table from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Canyon Commons. He will also be hosting an information session at 4 p.m. in Canyon Commons 102.

While people typically apply to the Peace Corps at the beginning of their senior year or about a year before completing a graduate degree, Roskelley also encourages freshmen, sophomores and juniors to talk with him because there are things students can do early in their college careers to make them more competitive when they apply.

After completing a 27-month term of service in the Peace Corps, returned volunteers have a letter that makes them more competitive when applying for federal government jobs. In addition, there are more than 200 colleges and universities around the country offering graduate school fellowships to returned Peace Corps volunteers in a wide variety of majors.

For more information about the Peace Corps, visit their website. Questions? Contact Nadine Pasin at npasin@georgefox.edu.
