New Psychology of Teaching and Learning course now offered

Thursday, August 22nd, 2019

Are you interested in someday tutoring, teaching Sunday school, or working with people? The psychology department is initiating a new class for advanced undergraduates or graduate students who are interested in the brain science underlying teaching and learning.

The course is Psyc 465: Psychology of Teaching and Learning, and will focus on recent research that will allow you to cut through the myths and see how learning really works – and how tutoring can be targeted to meet the needs of the individual students.

Class will be highly experiential, allowing students to tailor the course outcomes to their specific interests. We will meet on Mondays from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in Hoover 211.

Email Sue O’Donnell (sodonnell@georgefox.edu) if you have any questions or to get a permission number to register (you can ignore the requirement to be an upper-division psychology major; this course is open to all interested parties).

Owner sought for mystery documents

Thursday, August 22nd, 2019

I received in campus mail four forms that have the George Fox logo, are titled “Release #2-Client Release,” and are signed and dated at the bottom. I’m not sure who they belong to or how I ended up with them.

I don’t want to state the names on them for privacy reasons, but I need to find the owner of these forms. Please contact me if you have any information.

Thank you,
– Alan Thurston (athursto@georgefox.edu)

Call for stationery orders

Tuesday, August 20th, 2019

Now is the time to order university stationery. The collective order helps keep costs low – the higher the volume, the lower the cost. Consequently, it is most economical to overestimate needs and store a small surplus.

I will be accepting orders through Friday, Aug. 23. For order instructions, go to the marketing communications website. Continue to purchase all non-departmental stationery (including “second-sheet letterhead”) through the university’s Office of Mail Services.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,
– Jamison Loop (jloop@georgefox.edu)

Be aware of large call volume in student accounts

Tuesday, August 20th, 2019

Due to the high volume of calls received by the Office of Student Accounts, we urge you when you call to please leave a message so we can return calls in the order they are received.

Having the Student ID in your message and stating the reason for your call will expedite the return call. The fastest response will be to email at studentaccounts@georgefox.edu.

Thank you so much for your help!
