Join us for Christmas dinner buffet in Canyon Commons Wednesday

Bon Appetit is serving our annual Christmas buffet dinner in the dining room on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. We’d like to invite employees and commuter students to join in our celebration.

We will have a carving station, a variety of salads and side dishes, and festive holiday desserts and beverages, all for just $12 per person ($10 for children).

Come support musical theatre students tomorrow night

Please come support students of the fall 2016 Musical Theater Performance Class at their final showcase tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6  p.m. in Wood-Mar Auditorium!

Group songs, duets and solos will be performed from well-known musicals such as Jekyll and Hyde, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, The Secret Garden and several more. Gary Skye is our talented accompanist.

Study space available Monday through Wednesday nights

The Open Study Table will be available Monday through Wednesday of finals week from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Roberts Center. All students are welcome to come to Roberts 117 to make use of a quiet study environment.

Rolling whiteboards are available, and two generalist tutors will be present each night. Enter the Roberts Center from the Villa Road entrance by swiping your student ID at the front door or look for a sandwich board sign on the south (Sherman Street) side of the Roberts Center to point you to a side entrance.

Come to fire pit tonight for Burnt Offerings prayer time

If you’ve been to the Prayer Chapel frequently, you’ve likely noticed the prayer request board. Tonight (Sunday) at 7 p.m., an open prayer meeting called Burnt Offerings will be held at the Fire Pit Pavilion to clear out the request board to prepare for next semester. We will pray over each prayer individually, and then offer them to God in the fire.

ARC has hours during finals week

The Academic Resource Center has opened up hours during the first two days of finals week. On Dead Day (Monday), students can make appointments from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Tuesday, there are also some available spots.

If you need to meet on Wednesday or Thursday, please email the ARC (the_arc@georgefox.edu) and someone will get back to you.

Come to the George Fox exhibit at the Oregon Historical Society

The Oregon Historical Society is featuring a special anniversary exhibit titled, “Vision, Mission, Values: 125 Years of George Fox University.” As the oldest Christian institution in Oregon, we have a lot of history to share!

The exhibit highlights key individuals who shaped our story, special places and unique artifacts from campus life over the past 125 years. It is open now and runs through Feb. 5.

The Oregon Historical Society is located at 1200 S.W. Park Ave., in Portland. More information is available at this link.

Interested in an immersion trip into Portland?

A new trip next semester will give students a chance to embark on a four-day immersion into the city of Portland (Jan. 19-22). We will explore the things we otherwise cannot see until we are deep in the communities of Portland. This experiential learning trip will give insight into how God is working through and in the city, bringing reconciliation and recognizing the hardships.

Please take your bikes home over Christmas break

Please consider taking your bikes home for Christmas break and then bringing them back at spring break when the weather will be a bit more amenable for riding. If that is not possible, then please store your bike in your dorm room/apartment during Christmas break to make it less tempting for potential thieves!
