May Term students and summer student employees: It has been brought to security’s attention by the university community that many of the reserved staff spots behind the library are being used by students. Please park in the row directly facing the tennis courts (closest to the track), in the parking in front of Weesner Village, or in the Pennington or Bauman lots. Thanks!
We also welcome many visitors to campus during the summer, and the visitor rows in the Hoover and Stevens lots are reserved for visitors only. Please help us to welcome them by not using the guest parking areas.

The university’s retirement plan contribution was scheduled to change from 9 percent to 6 percent on the April 30 pay day. However, due to an error in the PeopleSoft settings, the contribution remained at 9 percent. To offset this additional 3 percent contribution on your April pay, only 3 percent of your May 31 pay will be contributed. Thereafter, the contribution will correctly be 6 percent. The PeopleSoft benefit table has been set up for 3 percent on May 31 and 6 percent beginning June 30, to ensure that this situation will not occur again.
We very much apologize for this issue. If you have any questions about it, please contact Lisa Burton or Peggy Kilburg.

If you are interested in taking part in the American Heart Association’s Heart the Stroke Walk on Saturday, May 19, please e-mail Peggy Kilburg (pkilburg@georgefox.edu) by 1 p.m. this Wednesday, May 9.
This fun, family-friendly event will take place in Portland along the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade. The 5K walk (or run if you prefer) promotes exercise and raises funds for cardiovascular disease research and initiatives that promote prevention, treatment and better care for stroke and heart disease patients.
Festivities begin at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 10 a.m. After the walk, you can take your kids to the Kids Zone to enjoy some fun activities. There will also be CPR demonstrations and free blood pressure screenings. Food tents will be available for all participants.
George Fox is pulling together volunteers to support Mohan Nair’s team. Nair is the chief innovation officer at Regence and was executive in residence for the School of Business last fall. He is a friend of Robin Baker and is working to build a strong team for this event. Robin will be at Boise’s commencement that weekend. However, he is showing his support for Mohan and this event by making a $700 donation to his team and will contribute a $10 sponsorship to each of the first 10 employees who volunteer to join Mohan’s team.
To volunteer, please e-mail Peggy and be sure to mark your calendar for May 19. Participants will each get a free T-shirt, so please include your T-shirt size in your e-mail. More information is available about the event at this link.

Due to lack of interest in producing the Bruin Directory, it will not be printed for the 2012-2013 academic year. The Bruin Directory is a student-funded, student-led project, and because of the lack of student involvement with the directory’s design and production, we feel it would be best to allocate those funds to something with more student participation.
We apologize for any inconvenience and welcome any comments or suggestions. Please feel free to fill out this form with any additional thoughts or comments on the matter.
Thank you!

George Fox is expecting approximately 30 to 40 new international students this fall. They will be arriving on Aug. 17 to begin the international student orientation.
Rather than house these students in empty dorm rooms during orientation, we are looking for about 15 to 20 families who would be willing to have up to two international students stay in their home the nights of Aug. 17-22 (students would be free to be with the families the entire weekend of Aug. 17-19).
Families are asked to provide breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided on campus during orientation. We also ask families to provide transportation to George Fox between 8 and 8:30 a.m. and pick students up at approximately 5 p.m. Host families will receive a stipend to help defray some of the costs of meals and transportation.
If you are interested in serving as a host family, please contact Dianna McIntyre (dmcintyr@georgefox.edu) or Alex Pia (apia@georgefox.edu). If you know of others who might be interested, please let us know so we may contact them.
Thank you for your willingness to consider this opportunity.
