Farewell reception for Jan Thomas set for April 14

Jan Thomas, administrative assistant for the School of Management’s MBA programs, will be resigning as of April 15 to move to Segway, Alaska, to take a position as an office manager for a tour company.

Final staff lunch of semester scheduled April 14

The final staff lunch of the semester is set for noon Monday, April 14, in the Cap and Gown Room. In addition to the food and fellowship, entertainment will be provided by singer Jelani Greenidge. There also will be door prizes. The cost is $3.

Forum discusses how educators plan, prepare over summer

What are you planning to do with your summer? Faculty responses to such a query typically range from research to relaxing. Come share your summer plans and hear from others about how they use their summer to further their calling as educators and scholars.

A Faculty Teaching Forum, “Summer Reading, Writing, and Renewal,” is set from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Executive Dining Room on the Newberg campus.

Guiding questions will be used to help in planning your summer activities. If you’re interested, read Don’t Waste Your Summer and Finally, Some Time for … in advance of the session.

To reserve a lunch, e-mail Jere Witherspoon (Student Life) at jwithers@georgefox.edu by 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14. Everyone is welcome to attend the session, whether bringing a lunch or reserving a lunch.

All faculty — full time, part time, and adjunct — are invited to attend Faculty Teaching Forums (FTFs). Video podcasts of FTFs will be available at the “Events and Resources” link on the Center for Teaching and Learning website.

Thailand May Serve team hosts banquet April 13

The May Serve team traveling to Thailand is hosting a fund-raising banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in the Klages Dining Room.

The event will include a silent auction. Free childcare is available (with meal provided), and a gourmet meal will be prepared by a professional chef (a vegetarian option will be available).

Tickets cost $10. To purchase them, contact e-mail Candice Thiessen at cthiessen04@georgefox.edu and let her know how many tickets you’d like, your campus box number, if you’d like the vegetarian meal, and how many children (if any) you’re bringing. She will mail you your ticket via campus mail.

Seniors present portfolios April 9 in Hoover 105

You are invited to attend the 2008 senior graphic design portfolio presentation. Ten senior visual arts/graphic design majors will present their work and discuss design concepts in the creation of their portfolio.

The presentation runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Hoover 105.

Senior Thesis Exhibit opens in both galleries Thursday

A Senior Thesis Exhibit, featuring the work of graduating art students, begins with an opening reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in both the Minthorne and Lindgren galleries. The exhibit will remain on display in both galleries through April 26.

Baccalaureate Ushers Needed – Saturday, April 26

Volunteers are needed to usher during the Baccalaureate Service on Saturday, April 26.

Ushers are needed at Bauman by 8:45 am.

The Baccalaureate Service begins at 9:30 am and concludes around 11:00 am.

The Baccalaureate usher’s primary responsibility is to keep the procession of graduates moving according to plan.
