Bridge Cafe is open while Bruin Den undergoes maintenance work

The Bridge Café will be open temporarily from today (Thursday) through Monday, June 5, while maintenance work is being completed in the Bruin Den. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Bruin Den will reopen on Tuesday, June 6.

Please be aware of Wheeler’s usage policy

For safety and stewardship of our facility, please note that the use of the gym and Fitness Center in Wheeler is limited to current students, employees and university-authorized groups only.

Those using the facility will need to be prepared to show your George Fox ID or approved temporary pass to Security Services or athletic department staff. Any other use or exceptions must be approved by Event Services (for outside groups) or the athletic office (for rare individual exceptions to policy).

Alumni Art Show opens today in Minthorne Gallery

“Looking Forward, Beyond the Familiar” is the George Fox Art and Design Alumni Art Show opening today (Thursday) and running through Wednesday, July 12. An artists’ reception will be Friday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Minthorne Gallery.

Please come by and see the latest work from 14 of our graduates, including paintings, ceramics, furniture, photography and graphic design. Minthorne Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Openings still available for Search Advocacy Training

In order to promote equitable hiring practices and inclusivity in the workplace, and to further encourage the Be Known promise to our students, George Fox offers Search Advocacy Training. The workshop series establishes a theoretical foundation of current research about implicit bias and diversity, information about the changing legal landscape in hiring, and an overview of inclusive employment principles.

Rebecca Hernandez will teach a two-day session on Tuesday, June 6, and Thursday, June 8, from 7:30 a.m. until noon. Each day’s session will include a full breakfast, served from 7:30 to 8 a.m., and training from 8 a.m. to  noon. A boxed lunch will be included on June 6, as well as a ticket to the employee barbecue on the quad on June 8.

‘Like’ Security Services on Facebook for great safety tips

Did you know that Security Services maintains a very active Facebook page that is full of safety tips, travel tips, weather advisories etc.?

Be sure to “like” George Fox University Security Services to see a lot of great information. Brochures and printouts with great information on preventing identity theft, active shooter response, apartment safety, vacation checklists, residential burglary prevention and property inventory record sheets, etc. will be available next week at the reception desk.

All invited to summer barbecue on Minthorn lawn June 8

Important End-of-Year PO Deadlines and Visa Transactions Information

End-of-Year Purchase Order Deadlines

The last day to place orders using the purchase order system is May 31, 2017, for FY2016-17. This includes all requisitions which must be budget checked, approved and converted to purchase orders. This helps ensure all products or services ordered via purchase order will be received by June 30, 2017.

Fiscal year 2017-18 Purchase Orders will need to wait until July 1.

Important year-end information for those using university Visa cards

To ensure a clean cut-off between FY2016-17 and FY2017-18 spending, the last day to use your George Fox University Visa card for FY2016-17 purchases is Friday, June 23, 2017. Please refrain from using your card for any purchases after this date.

If you will be traveling for business during this time, please contact Matt Hammar or Kathi Becker to discuss arrangements on how to handle travel after June 23. Credit card purchases for FY2017-18 can begin on or after July 1, 2017.

Bruin Den closes June 1-5 for maintenance project

The Bruin Den will be closed Thursday, June 1, through Monday, June 5, for a maintenance project. The Bridge Café will open up temporarily on Friday, June 2, and Monday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have complimentary coffee available in the Bruin Den seating area Thursday, June 1.

FoxTALE maintenance scheduled tomorrow morning

FoxTALE will be unavailable from 6 to 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) tomorrow (Wednesday, May 31) for scheduled maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

During this maintenance update, Spring 2017 course sites will be hidden to students (current semester course sites will be unaffected and remain visible to students). If you want to make any of those course sites visible to students after this update, select Administration>Edit settings. In the “General” section, look for the “Visible” setting and change “Hide” back to “Show.” Scroll to bottom and “Save changes.”

Miller Gym in Wheeler Sports Center closed through June 11

Due to the need for more extensive resurfacing work on the gym floor, Miller Gym in the Wheeler Sports Center will now be closed through Sunday, June 11. It will reopen on Monday, June 12. Please note: Only the gym is closed; the Fitness Center and the athletics offices will remain open as scheduled.
