More vehicle registration hints

We’ve had a great response thus far in the first week of vehicle registration on our new database! A few questions have come up more than once, so here are a few more tips and hints on completing the process for staff, faculty and students:

  1. Staff, faculty and adjuncts need to put the George Fox address of “414 N. Meridian St. Newberg, OR 97132” in the “Mailing Address” field, and on the second line put your campus PO box. Permits will be sent to your department box via campus mail. They will not be mailed to your home address.
  2. Students: You will not be able to access the vehicle registration database until your housing designation is complete. If you have been approved to commute, please make sure all of your paperwork has been completed and turned into housing. If you have been assigned campus housing, please accept and confirm that assignment before attempting to register.
  3. Staff and faculty: If you have purchased additional permits in the past, and wish to have one permit per vehicle, you will need to register the primary vehicle on the database for your gratis permit, and then bring in the pertinent information to the security office along with $5 cash for each additional permit you desire. Security personnel will then register your additional vehicle(s), take your $5 cash per permit, and hand you your permit(s) on the spot. We want to serve you as quickly as possible, so please call (ext. 2090) or e-mail security to make sure that Ed or Nadine are present in the office before coming.
  4. Students living off campus roughly within two blocks of campus who qualify for a gratis neighborhood permit will need to bring proof of residence (checkbook, lease agreement with your name on it, bill addressed to you at that address, etc.) to the security office along with your DMV registration card. Your car will be registered on the spot by security personnel and a neighborhood permit issued. Please do not register online, as you will be charged for a commuter permit since you will be coded as living off campus in the database. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid a long wait once school starts.
  5. Don’t know your seven-digit ID number that is used to register? For students, log on to MyGFU, select “Self Service,” then “Student Center,” then “Demographic Data” and voila! Your seven-digit ID number will be displayed there. For employees, log on to “MyGFU,” select “Self Service,” then “Campus Personal Information” and finally “Demographic Information” to access your number.
  6. Students, the “not bringing a car to campus” option no longer exists on this database. It is solely for those who indeed have a car, will be driving it to campus, and need to register it for a parking permit.

We love to answer your questions and to find working solutions, so please feel free to email Nadine Kincaid or call 503-554-2090 if you get stuck in the registration process, or have an out-of-the-box situation.
