Please donate reusable items to Phase 2

April 24th, 2024

At the end of every school year, many students have good, reusable items that they don’t want to take home. These items include clothing, blankets, kitchen supplies, small appliances, room decorations, small furniture, etc.

In an effort to keep the dumpsters from overflowing and to be better stewards of resources, the university collects these items through an initiative we call Phase 2 and gives them a second life. We’re happy to accept reusable items, today (Friday) through Sunday, April 28.

Collection barrels will be placed in dorm lobbies across campus. There will also be a drop-off location at Plant Services (#60 on the campus map) during normal business hours, in or near the receiving bay located to the left of the main entrance. Please place donated items in bags inside the barrels.

We do not accept:

  • Trash
  • Damaged, broken, or dirty items
  • Undergarments or socks
  • Items bigger than the barrel
  • Liquids
  • Chemicals (may be placed in a box or bag next to the barrels)
  • Food (take sealed, unexpired food to the Bruin Community Pantry in Lewis Apartment #1)

There will also be a few extra-large dumpsters for trash located on campus. By law, computers, monitors, and TVs cannot go into the trash. They can be placed beside the barrels; please label them if they are broken.

Candidates needed for research study on knee pain

April 24th, 2024

Do you suffer from knee pain and are over the age of 50? You may very well be an ideal candidate for a research study being conducted by Rebecca Dobler, a faculty member in the university’s Department of Physical Therapy.

The purpose of the study is to determine the influences of peak effort in participants with knee pain and/or knee osteoarthritis during a one-minute sit-to-stand test, and new approaches in knee pain education. The research is being done in conjunction with A.T. Still University to fulfill dissertation requirements of the principal investigator.

We are seeking participants who are over 50 with either self-declared knee pain or documented knee OA from a provider. An initial phone screening will be completed to determine your eligibility. The study will be conducted at the Medical Sciences Building at 448 Werth Blvd., in Newberg.

Please call 503-554-2466 or email gotkneesdpt@georgefox.edu for more information.
