This year, students from PA, PT, OT, kinesiology and nursing will be traveling to Costa Rica to provide medical services to underserved people. To help support their trip, nursing and kinesiology students are holding a fundraiser at MOD pizza.

The Costa Rica service trip will receive 25% of fundraiser sales during this fundraiser. Participate on Sunday, May 11, by ordering online using the code MODGIVES25, or by visiting the Newberg MOD location and showing this fundraiser flier or mentioning the fundraiser at checkout.

Have other plans? Consider praying for our team or donating directly here.

All are invited to join this Saturday’s ‘Friendly Walk’

May 6th, 2025

Don’t forget to participate in the inaugural “Friendly Walk” this Saturday, May 10, starting at 10 a.m. We’ll gather in the plaza on the south side of the Chehalem Cultural Center (adjacent to Sheridan Street).

You will join a small team of people (at least some of whom you won’t know), given a map of a suggested route, and sent off on about an hour’s walk, team by team.

You will have information on key historical and cultural sites in downtown Newberg and on the George Fox campus, and will cooperate to complete items on a list of things to do, talk about, and find along the way – and earn points. Upon returning to the Cultural Center, teams can redeem points for prizes.

Along the way, you will learn about Newberg’s history, have fun, get some exercise, get to know some new people, help create a stronger network of friendly relationships in the community across ideological or other boundaries, and improve your ability to use disagreements to generate better ideas for a better community.

Introducing shuttle vans and golf carts to campus transportation

April 30th, 2025

We are pleased to announce the addition of two shuttle vans (akin to airport shuttles) to the university’s transportation resources. Please note that the operation of these vehicles is limited to approved faculty, staff and coaches, and necessitates specific training distinct from the existing university van training.

Current university van drivers whose departmental needs include shuttle van operation are invited to request training. The training program consists of an online orientation, followed by a one-on-one observation.

The university has also acquired passenger golf carts to facilitate guest transportation for campus tours and special events. Departments and individuals who foresee a benefit from golf cart certification are encouraged to register for the required training.

Starting today (Thursday), you can sign up for training here.

If you have any questions, reach out to Kim Knoernschild at 503-554-2011.
