Free Numerade learning platform/AI account available for undergraduates

August 27th, 2024

Numerade is a virtual learning platform specializing in STEM education. The system offers video lessons for selected textbook questions, custom video answers from educators, several study tools, and Ace, an AI tutor built on ChatGPT Plus. Although the textbooks are primarily for STEM subjects, Ace can be used for any subject.

Undergraduate students can create a free account by going to numerade.com, clicking “Sign up now,” and using their George Fox email address to create their account. The AI for Learning web page has guidance on appropriate use of AI to support student learning; more resources will be added in the near future.

All faculty currently have access to Numerade. If your STEM course textbook isn’t listed, let us know and we can request that it be added; other disciplines might be supported in the future. We are working with Numerade to refine their tools to further support our students’ learning.

Feel free to contact Rick Muthiah, director of Learning Support Services, with feedback or questions at rmuthiah@georgefox.edu.

Don’t need university’s health insurance? Fill out form by Sept. 1

August 26th, 2024

Every year, students ask the student accounts office how to waive the health insurance fee that’s on their student account. If you already have health insurance and don’t need George Fox’s, you must complete the health insurance form located in your MyGeorgeFox “Task” tile under your To-Do list by Sept. 1.

This waiver must be completed annually, as it is not automatically renewed for you. Once you’ve completed the waiver, the charge should drop off of your student account within a few business days.

Full-time undergraduate students and full-time in-person graduate program students who do not complete the waiver will be enrolled and charged for university-provided insurance. These charges are due at the beginning of the semester and cannot be included in a monthly payment plan.

For any appeals regarding George Fox health insurance, please contact Health & Counseling at hcc@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2340.
