So, how does this whole dating thing work during COVID-19? It can help to establish personal boundaries and communicate them. If you’re only OK with phone or video, that’s OK. And if you’re tired of dating by text and video, that’s OK, too, but ask your potential date how they feel about meeting in person.
How do you both feel about masking, physical distancing, and having people over? If you do decide to meet in person:
- Before the date, ask how they’re feeling. If they have potential COVID-19 symptoms, postpone the date for at least 14 days.
- Limit exposure (for example, meet only one new person per week).
- Choose outdoor activities where you can easily keep six feet of physical distance between you and your date, like biking, fishing, hiking, Frisbee, walks or roller skating. If you want to be closer, consider a picnic or patio dining.
- As the weather gets cooler, consider dates in public indoor spaces where you can maintain distance (such as museums or shopping malls).
- Limit dates in your home in the same way you would limit other visitors to your home during COVID-19, and let your date know your expectations.

For the first time ever, we are able to add meal plans for graduate students!
If you are interested in adding either of our “Block Plans” or another meal plan, please email housing@georgefox.edu and we will get it set up within one business day for you to start getting food!
The Bridge Cafe is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and so should be available during your hours on campus.
Part of being able to offer graduate meal plans is our new app: GET mobile. The app is used over 500 times daily by our undergraduates to order and pick up meals and beverages to go.
If you would like to use the app to order food to go, follow these instructions:
- Download the “GET Mobile app” by searching your phone’s app store for GET MOBILE
- The app is grey and says “GET.”
- Launch the app and find George Fox University from the list of schools
- Enter your George Fox username and password
- It may ask you to enter your email and phone number
- A phone number is required to notify you when your order is ready
- Land on the Dashboard, with a (1) Accounts, (2) Transactions, and (3) Order section
- Add a credit card or debit card on file when making your first order
- To place an order select “Start an Order”
- Choose the Bridge Cafe
- Place your order
- Some options can be preordered and some can only be ordered for ASAP (weekly rotating menu in Canyon Commons)
- View your cart and select your payment method
- You can add a card during your first order
When you get the notification that your order is ready, you can pick it up at the station right outside the Bridge Café. No waiting in line!
Questions or problems? Please reach out Jason Rosvall at jrosvall@georgefox.edu.
