Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fight in a large-scale medieval fantasy style battle? Come join the Fencing and Critical Hit clubs for their Live Action Role Play (LARP) Day to find out!
The battle will commence this Friday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on the basketball court in Hadlock! All students and faculty are welcome to join in the fun! What is LARP? It’s a battle with foam-padded melee weaponry, set to a story line.
Choose a side: Will you fight for glory and honor with the Fencing Club, or defend what is rightfully yours with the Critical Hit Club? Costumes are encouraged, and personal foam weapons are allowed. However, they will be subject to pre-approval.
Interested in participating? Fill out this form to RSVP. For more information, contact Brody Lee at blee20@georgefox.edu.

Today (Monday) is designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as World Mental Health Day to raise awareness and reduce stigma about anxiety, depression, and overall mental health. We recognize that students, faculty and staff within our own George Fox community face similar challenges.
A few years ago, one of our George Fox alumni created a series of yard signs that were distributed throughout the region to encourage those who might be struggling. During this season of midterms and stress, we have placed a number of those signs throughout campus for the next few weeks.
We encourage you to take time in the midst of this busy season for self-care and to recognize that God is with you and he is for you!
For those who are struggling, we want to remind you about the following confidential resources:

The Wineskin journal is a George Fox’s literary and art publication showcasing the writing and art of the students, as well as the literary and artistic efforts of community members who meet the journal’s high standards.
We are now accepting submissions that explore what it means to live deliberately, thoughtfully and faithfully through prose, poetry and art. While we will consider any submissions, we are in particular seeking submissions that address our issue theme. The theme for this year is “Babel,” and we would love to see what this represents for you!
Email any questions and/or submission(s) to gfuwineskin@gmail.com. Please email submissions as an attached document. Submission does not equal publication, and you will be notified within two to four weeks during the fall and spring reading window about whether your work will be included.

Ever heard of polystyrene? It’s nothing complicated, it’s just the scientific name for Styrofoam. The Maker Hub’s Proxxon Thermocut allows you to cut Styrofoam in a clean and safe way without frayed edges. The foam cutter can be used for architectural models, plane and boat items, and various decorative pieces.
The large table ensures smooth and easy movement of the foam piece, allowing you to easily cut the Styrofoam into the desired shape.
For more information, check out the Maker Hub’s wiki page. Check out this video to see how it works!
The Maker Hub exists as a resource and creative outlet for the entire George Fox community (yes, including non-engineers!). We are looking for student aces. A student ace is simply an expert on a piece of equipment who helps train other students on the usage of that equipment and gains extra privileges within the Maker Hub.
Please email makerhub@georgefox.edu if you would like to get connected or have any questions.

Dear Beloved Community,
We are grateful to be a part of a presidential initiative that values diversity. Our university’s commitment to diversity is deeply rooted in our primary commitment to the truth of the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is our desire to create a space that fosters community and engages in rich dialogue to improve diversity and inclusion awareness that will, in turn, become applicable to our work at George Fox and our local community at large.
We invite you to explore the content designated for each month and look forward to building and strengthening our time together through conversation. Everyone will be enrolled in Canvas as a way to access the content. You may also review the content on this PDF and can learn more about our diversity efforts on this Diversity Resources webpage.
