Through the next month, George Fox will start requiring multi-factor authentication to sign in to university resources through Single Sign On. This change will affect signing into resources such as email and Canvas.

All employees and students are highly encouraged to opt-in to multi-factor authentication prior to the requirement date by following these instructions.

Individuals who have not opted in by the dates below will be prompted to do so before being able to access Single Sign On:

  • Staff and Administrators: Aug. 2, 2021
  • Students: Aug. 16, 2021
  • Faculty: Aug. 23, 2021

Spots still open in Wilderness First Aid course this August

Campus Recreation is hosting a Wilderness First Aid certification course at the Hadlock Student Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 17-18. Students, employees and community members are all eligible to participate.

The course is a two-day introduction to general wilderness medicine concepts and basic life support skills. It is perfect for anyone who likes to spend time outside. This course provides relevant and realistic first-aid training and is taught by a professional instructor with significant patient care and backcountry experience.

You can register for the course at the Hadlock Student Center here. Please register as soon as possible to ensure your spot. We have reached our minimum number of participants, so it is confirmed and running.

Updated information regarding students with disabilities

Andrea Byerley is now the assistant director of Disability & Accessibility Services (DAS) and has primary responsibility for working with students and faculty around accommodation needs. She is also leading initiatives to increase engagement on disability-related topics.

Our engaged and curious neighbors at Friendsview Retirement Community are looking for presenters for their community during the 2021-22 academic year. Presentations usually run 40 minutes with a 10-minute Q&A, and can be done via Zoom or in person in Newberg.

Registration closes tomorrow for young writers’ camp

Have children in the fourth through ninth grades? We have a camp for them! The Oregon Writing Project is hosting a young writers’ camp, themed “Mission to Mars,” July 12-16! Camp meets from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Registration closes tomorrow (Thursday) at 5 p.m. If you are an employee of or a student at George Fox, we are able to offer a discount of 40% for your child.

Writing camp offered for 4th-9th grade students this summer

The Oregon Writers project is offering an incredible writing camp July 12-16 for 4th-9th grade students!  We are partnering with Airways Science to give students a hands-on, exciting camp. It will be held on-campus in the Robert’s Center from 9 am – 12 pm each day and the cost is $125. Scholarships are available based on need.

Murdock Library building closed

Due to a significant power outage, the Murdock Library (including the 24-hour space) is closed to visitors until further notice. Library staff are working remotely and may be contacted via email or through the library website.

Questions about retrieving physical materials should be sent to library@georgefox.edu. Students in need of printing or computer lab services should contact the IT Service Desk for assistance. We will release updates about library services as we are able.
