Don’t forget about the Staff Development Committee’s non-food pantry drive on behalf of Love INC. The local community has a high demand for necessities not covered by food stamps. Please help meet those needs. Look for Love INC donation barrels on the Newberg campus in the SUB (outside the University Store), Stevens Center lobby, Hoover Atrium, Mail Services and the VAC. The Portland Center also has a barrel available for donations. The donation drive ends Oct. 22.

Needed items include toilet paper (this is the highest need), laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher soap, bar soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, razors, shaving cream, feminine products, Saran Wrap, Zip bags, garbage bags, paper towels, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes and dental floss.

Don’t forget to register for Selah, the university’s women’s conference scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 27, in Bauman Auditorium. Pictures from the university’s 10th annual Serve Day (Sept. 10) have been posted on the Web. Simply go to the homepage (georgefox.edu) and click on one of the rotating Serve Day photos at the top of the page to see a collection of pictures from the day.

We are looking for volunteers to help build lunch boxes for Selah’s 600 participants. We will put the lunches together as much as we can from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and then place the cold packs and sandwiches in them on Saturday from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Both lunch-building sessions will meet in the Cap and Gown Room. All volunteers will recieve $10 off their Selah registration fee.

The Portland Center will be closed Labor Day weekend starting on Friday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. and will re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The password for the wireless network has been changed for the fall semester.

The new password will appear on the first page of BruinData on Monday, Aug. 18.

FoxTALE will be unavailable from 6 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, for server maintenance and preparation for the fall semester. Please note that your online course(s) will be unavailable during this time.

The Portland Center campus will be closed on August 15, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. while all employees attend a meeting in Newberg. The front office, library, and bookstore will re-open at 12 p.m.

There is still time to sign up for the third annual George Fox University Motorcycle Rally, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16. If you ride a street motorcycle of any kind, you are invited to join other members of the George Fox family in this special event. The Portland Center Library is a fantastic resource for our employees and students alike. The rows of books and the many magazines, newspapers and journals that they provide for us is amazing! We want to continue to support this resource in every way we can.

Recently, however, the library staff has discovered that several magazines and a newspaper are disappearing off the racks. Specifically these publications are:

• Time
  
• US News
• Entertainment
  
• The Wall Street Journal

If you have accidentally picked up these magazines or have taken them to read, please return them to the library so that the other students and employees can enjoy them as well. In this way, we are all being good stewards of what God has blessed us with.

Early-morning network maintenance will occur at the Portland Center from 7 to 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2. Internet access will be intermittent during this time.

Portland Center employee box numbers have changed. Barbi Doran (Telephone Services) has posted an updated list on the employee resources page on the university’s website.  Just look in the Employee Information section for the employee telephone/box list.

If you have any 10th- to 12th-graders in your life looking for adventure this summer, Tilikum Center for Retreats & Outdoor Ministries is hosting its Impact wilderness trip Monday through Saturday, July 28 to Aug. 2.

Impact campers will enjoy six full days of backpacking, rock climbing, and a challenge course, among other activities. Space is limited. Go to camptilikum.org for more details or call 503-538-2763 to reserve your spot.

This is a reminder that the University Store will be closed Wednesday, June 25, through Monday, June 30, to conduct its year-end inventory procedure. During these days, the Newberg campus bookstore, textbook annex, and online store will be shut down for any type of sale or request. All bookstore employees will be unavailable for assistance.

During this time:

• There will be no money available to make change.
• Phone orders or requests will not be taken.
• Candy, beverages, or other items will not be sold, along with any other type of merchandise.

The bookstore will resume full operation on Tuesday, July 1, but will be closed on Friday, July 4. Please plan ahead for merchandise needed before this time. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we perform our inventory process.
