Register now for Selah 2009! The conference theme is “Reimagine — Embracing change, trusting God and moving forward” and features speakers Sarah Thomas Baldwin (Spiritual Life), Linda Lucas and Bo Stern. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Bauman Auditorium.

The mail courier to Salem will be going on Thursdays only for the next four weeks. Normal two-times-a-week service will resume on Monday, Aug 17. The Portland courier will still be operating five days, Monday through Friday. Questions? Call Sherrie Frost (Mail Services) at ext. 2556.
Students: Please do NOT prop open external doors in the evenings. We have had several instances of finding the doors propped open lately.
Why do we have the doors locked at 7:15 p.m.? In the last year we’ve had three occasions in the late evening of prowlers looking for items to steal. One of the occurrences left significant damage to many offices and gained access to secure areas.
We lock the doors in the evening to help provide you with safety and security. Please help us in maintaining it.
All university offices and libraries will be closed on Friday, July 3, for the Independence Day holiday.
 Just a reminder that we have overflow parking available in the parking lot across from our west entrance in the evening and on Saturdays.
The complex is known as Triangle Terrace and the address shows 12755 SW 69 Ave. We have negotiated with our neighbors to park there when their business aren’t using the area. Please observe the following guidelines when parking in this lot or we may lose our agreement:
The Portland Center Bookstore will be CLOSED Tuesday, June 30 until Thursday, July 2 for end of fiscal year inventory. The bookstore will also be closed Friday, July 3 for the Independence Day holiday.
No transactions will be able to take place during those three days.
No change can be given.
No bookstore staff will be available to help students or guests.

It is our pleasure to announce that Kam’s Fine Foods has been chosen as our coffee house vendor. Their catering division, Kam & Kam Catering, is currently used by most of our departments so you’ve likely have sampled their excellent food.
Progress is being made on the new area and our target opening will be mid-August with a few trial runs the first week of August.
They will be offering espresso drinks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner options as well as snacks and desserts.

You are invited to join university alumni, parents and friends at Safeco Field for a catered barbecue lunch in Lookout Landing and a Seattle Mariners game against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, June 6.

Consonare Chorale, a Portland based chorale ensemble which includes John Newberry (Portland Center Superintendent of Facilities), will present “Song Cycles and other Modes of Transportation “ on Saturday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Parkrose United Methodist Church, 11111 NE Knott, Portland, 97220.Â
The concert includes Paul Simon’s “I’m a Train,” the Beatles “Drive My Car,†and James Taylor’s “That Lonesome Road†amongst others. Advance tickets are $15.00 and can be obtained by contacting Consonare Chorale at consonarechorale.org or you can call John at extension 6199. Tickets at the door are $18.00.  Cost for Seniors and students is $12.00.
All university offices in Newberg and at regional sites will be closed on Monday, May 25, to observe the Memorial Day holiday.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25, the courier schedule will be changed for next week only. He will go to the Portland Center every day Tuesday through Friday and will go to Salem on Tuesday and Thursday only, May 26 and 28.
Cut-off times remain the same. Items must be in Newberg Mail Services by 9:45 a.m. for delivery to Portland and Salem campuses.
Normal schedule will resume the following week.
Seminary student Kenneth Springs (playing the role of Ferapont) and Student Financial Services representative Angela “Sundance†Milner (playing the role of Musician) are performing in Artists Repertory Theatre’s production of Three Sisters from now through June 14. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary by date.

A special George Fox student/alumni/employee rate is available for the Spiritual Discernment As Christian Leadership Conference scheduled Sunday through Wednesday, May 31 to June 3. The special rate is $100 (minus meals, materials and lodging). Availability is limited. You may register on site or e-mail a registration form (available at georgefox.edu/discernment/conference) to Margaret Fuller (Religious Studies) at mfuller@georgefox.edu.

Postage rates increase on Monday, May 11. Stamps will increase from 42 cents to 44 cents each. Purchase the “Forever Stamps” now at 42 cents each; they will be worth 44 cents each on Monday. Forever Stamps can only be purchased in books of 20.
University Mail Services has Forever Stamp books available for $8.40 (20 stamps). Remember that on Monday, that same book will cost $8.80.
