The Spring Awards Convocation Chapel is Tuesday, April 18! Join us in Bauman Auditorium at 10:50 a.m. to worship together and celebrate at this final chapel of the year.

The winners of the Faculty Achievement Awards for Undergraduate Teaching and Undergraduate Research & Scholarship will be announced, and Provost Andrea Scott will give a special year-end message to our students and graduates.

We’ll also hear from our student music ensemble, and professor Aaron Barnhart will lead us in worship. Don’t miss it!

Register now for PT’s Run for Africa event on May 6

Kick off the summer with the Run for Africa event on Friday, May 6, to support the doctor of physical therapy program’s service trip to Uganda. We will host both 5K and one-mile events.

Bring your family and friends and have some fun running or walking around the main campus and into the community. There is a discounted George Fox student rate ($20), and the cost is $30 for all community members. A T-shirt is included in registration.

All proceeds go to help send faculty and DPT students to evaluate and treat underserved populations in Africa.

Fill out these forms to request or dispose of work furniture

Does your work space have too much furniture? Not quite enough furniture? Please check out the Office Furniture Policy webpage. Go here to request furniture and go here to dispose of your furniture.

Use the disposal form for the removal of items ranging from office decorations and supplies, to furniture that is broken or obsolete. Examples of when this form is appropriate to use:

  • Boxes of miscellaneous office supplies (do not use the form for single items such as a stapler, a pen holder, a tape dispenser, etc.)
  • Standard university-provided office desks, chairs, tables, shelving, etc.
  • Obsolete fixed assets
  • Lounge furniture
  • Exercise equipment

Items we will not take:

  • Any liquids (e.g. cleaning supplies, paints, aerosols, and laboratory chemicals)
  • Items with characteristics of toxic, corrosive, reactive, or flammable material
  • Any radioactive or biological material, or an unknown substance
  • Refrigerant, or lead painted materials
  • Any pressurized container
  • Any medical or lab equipment that is no longer working, or is working but has not been thoroughly cleaned

Come hear from two distinctly different community-building approaches (one in Hillsboro, and another in Sisters, Oregon), and consider how their experiences could inspire active, justice-building civility in your own community.

Register for C.S. Lewis lectures aimed at our senior (55-plus) community

In partnership with OLLI, the Osher Life Long Learning Institute at the University of Oregon, the university is presenting a two-part series of talks for our local senior (55-plus) community.

OLLI is a national initiative that aims to provide enrichment programming because learning continues across the lifespan. Starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, Professor Jason Lepojärvi, director of the CS Lewis Initiative at George Fox, will give a talk on The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis. He will lead a Q&A after his initial presentation. To register, please go here.

The event will be live-streamed on Zoom and hosted in Canyon Commons 103 with light refreshments.

Take in some soulful tunes performed by guitarist Doyle Dykes on April 22

We are privileged to welcome guitarist Doyle Dykes in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Dykes is arguably the most gifted fingerstyle guitarist alive today, and he has dedicated himself and his gift to the Lord wholeheartedly. When he plays, he blends Scripture and inspirational stories into his music that are fully engaging to the listener. You can catch him on his Sunday String-Along program on YouTube.

Doyle is a godly treasure, both as a person and as a musician, and you won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to spend an evening with him.

Survey: Walk for Water

For our Business Communications class, we are putting on a Walk for Water event at 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 8, to raise money and awareness for the communities in Africa who do not have access to safe, clean drinking water.

The university community is invited to the Interprofessional Primary Care Institute’s “Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy” event May 9-11.

Both in-person and Zoom sessions will be hosted, with Tuesday’s event taking place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s meetings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sessions will feature Dr. Patricia Robinson and Dr. Kirk Strosahl, founders of Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and internationally renowned psychologists.

This CME is an excellent cross-training opportunity in behavioral theory and practice for the medical, dental, pharmacy and nursing professions.

Hear from two community leaders making a difference this Monday
