Do you have a love for details, a heart for service and interest in a short-term work opportunity in the final weeks of the summer? If so, you might be a perfect fit for our interim Serve Day coordinator position. Our Serve Day Committee and full-time student intern are working diligently toward this exciting Sept. 9 all-campus event, however we are looking for an interim professional staff member to guide the remainder of the process.
The SpIL office is looking for an internal candidate for this role who has a great deal of experience with George Fox’s Serve Day, event planning experience, and a lightly scheduled August and early September. If that’s you or someone you know, please send an email to Jamie Noling-Auth at jnolingauth@georgefox.edu.

Now is the time to order university stationery. The collective order helps keep costs low – the higher the volume, the lower the cost. Consequently, it is most economical to overestimate needs and store a small surplus.
Marketing Communications will be accepting orders through Monday, Aug. 17. For order instructions, visit our stationary page. Continue to purchase all non-departmental stationery (including “second-sheet letterheadâ€) through Print Services.
Please contact Danette Newkirk at dnewkirk@georgefox.edu if you have any questions.

We will have the large video board at Stoffer Family Stadium up and running during Welcome Weekend and would like to have as many campus groups and departments as possible represented. This will be a really great way to “advertise” during a time when many people are on campus.
If you have content that you would like put up on the video board, please send it to Elise Trask (etrask@georgefox.edu) by August 15. Here are a few guidelines:
- Image must be 16×9 JPEG (you can set your dimensions and do the JPEG conversion in PowerPoint)
- Keep the text that accompanies the image short and simple
- Be sure that your department/group/team name is submitted along with the image
- Make sure the picture fits within the George Fox brand
- You can submit a maximum of two 16×9 JPEGs per department/group/team
You can advertise an upcoming event, or maybe you have a photo from a past event (Juniors Abroad, music concert, art exhibit, etc.) that you feel represents your department/group/team well. Contact Elise with any questions.

We’ve had a great response thus far in the first week of vehicle registration on our new database! A few questions have come up more than once, so here are a few more tips and hints on completing the process for staff, faculty and students:
- Staff, faculty and adjuncts need to put the George Fox address of “414 N. Meridian St. Newberg, OR 97132” in the “Mailing Address” field, and on the second line put your campus PO box. Permits will be sent to your department box via campus mail. They will not be mailed to your home address.
- Students: You will not be able to access the vehicle registration database until your housing designation is complete. If you have been approved to commute, please make sure all of your paperwork has been completed and turned into housing. If you have been assigned campus housing, please accept and confirm that assignment before attempting to register.
- Staff and faculty: If you have purchased additional permits in the past, and wish to have one permit per vehicle, you will need to register the primary vehicle on the database for your gratis permit, and then bring in the pertinent information to the security office along with $5 cash for each additional permit you desire. Security personnel will then register your additional vehicle(s), take your $5 cash per permit, and hand you your permit(s) on the spot. We want to serve you as quickly as possible, so please call (ext. 2090) or e-mail security to make sure that Ed or Nadine are present in the office before coming.
- Students living off campus roughly within two blocks of campus who qualify for a gratis neighborhood permit will need to bring proof of residence (checkbook, lease agreement with your name on it, bill addressed to you at that address, etc.) to the security office along with your DMV registration card. Your car will be registered on the spot by security personnel and a neighborhood permit issued. Please do not register online, as you will be charged for a commuter permit since you will be coded as living off campus in the database. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid a long wait once school starts.
- Don’t know your seven-digit ID number that is used to register? For students, log on to MyGFU, select “Self Service,” then “Student Center,” then “Demographic Data” and voila! Your seven-digit ID number will be displayed there. For employees, log on to “MyGFU,” select “Self Service,” then “Campus Personal Information” and finally “Demographic Information” to access your number.
- Students, the “not bringing a car to campus” option no longer exists on this database. It is solely for those who indeed have a car, will be driving it to campus, and need to register it for a parking permit.
We love to answer your questions and to find working solutions, so please feel free to email Nadine Kincaid or call 503-554-2090 if you get stuck in the registration process, or have an out-of-the-box situation.

This is just a reminder that whenever a job is being submitted to Print Services, your department’s chart of accounts number must accompany the job. Print Services is not responsible for knowing your chart of accounts number.
If a work-study student is submitting a job, please make sure they are provided the chart of accounts number. This is the full string of numbers and not just the six-digit department ID. Therefore, it should look like this, for example: 54510-10000-610100-MG130-ALL.
Thank you for your help. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Richard Silver at rsilver@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2551.

Security Services is pleased to announce that the new vehicle registration system is up and running! Here are some tips to make the registration process smoother:
- The link to register is on MyGFU and is underneath the “University Resources” heading.
- Have your vehicle’s registration card from the DMV with you when you register for needed information.
- Important Change: Any vehicle or license plate changes that need to be made AFTER you have registered need to be done by security office personnel. Come into the office during business hours or email Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.
- Staff, faculty and adjuncts are given one gratis permit to use between vehicles. If you wish to have a permit for each vehicle, please come to the security office to register additional vehicles and to pay the $5 cash fee per permit.
- All staff permits will be delivered via campus mail to your university PO box number, so please have that handy when you register.
- For this initial year only, all newly assigned adjunct permits will be valid for 1.5 years, until December 2016. Thereafter they will expire on Dec. 31 of each year. Staff and full-time faculty permits do not expire.
- Portland employees need to register only if they frequently come to the Newberg campus.
Questions? Have a situation out-of-the-box? Either e-mail Nadine at the above e-mail address, or call 503-554-2090 during business hours.

Attention Portland Center employees: University photographer Joel Bock will be at the Portland Center for a scheduled photo shoot today (Wednesday) from 12:30 to 2 p.m. He will set up out front of the south building on the west side.
If your employee photo on the university website is in need of updating, this is your chance to get it done! Not sure if you need a retake? If your existing photo is more than two years old, is poorly lit, is out of focus, and/or has a gray, brown or black background, it’s time for an update.
No appointment is necessary, and each photo subject will be done in only two to three minutes. Solid, neutral clothing colors are recommended.
Questions? Contact Darla Norgren at dnorgren@georgefox.edu.
