Today (Wednesday) is the last day to take advantage of the university’s passport days event. If you are planning to travel internationally, you will need a current passport to get into other countries. A representative from the post office will be on hand to facilitate the process of getting you a new passport or renewing your old one.

To review the current fees for passports, visit this link. The passport event will be today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Klages Center (Room 231).

The event is also open to the public, so please feel free to share this with your friends and family. Payment can be made by either cash or check. You must have the exact amount if you are paying by cash.

You will need the following two pieces of ID with you when you arrive:

• Current driver’s license or state-issued ID with current last name
• Original birth certificate (to be submitted with the passport and returned to you by the state department)

Two types of passports are available – Passport Book and Passport Card. The card is not good for any flights. You must have the book if you are flying out of the country.

Runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to join us for a Homecoming & Alumni Weekend 5K Run/Walk we like to call the “Foxtrot.” It’s a race right here on campus! The event will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. in front of Bauman Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 1.

For a peek at the course map, check out this webpage. Make sure to register for the event in advance at this link. Participation costs $5, and all proceeds go to the Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship for George Fox students. The winner of the race will receive a prize!

During Homecoming, we are excited to welcome students and alumni to campus for this inaugural event: Alumni of Color. This year, as we celebrate our 125th anniversary, we also want to reflect on the history of diversity at the institution.

The purpose of this networking event is to connect our alumni of color to our current student body, to each other, and to George Fox; to help students adjust to life after college; and to educate both alumni and students about future jobs, networking tools, and the history of George Fox.

The keynote speakers will be Randy Winston (’73) and Sandra Lopez (’15). Their biographies are available on this webpage. If you are an alumnus/a or current student and would like to attend, please register as soon as possible at this link. This is a free event.

Foubert, a professor of higher education and student affairs administration at Oklahoma State University, will be on the Newberg campus and Portland Center on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and Wednesday, Oct. 5, speaking on these important topics. Following are sessions for faculty, staff and administrators.

Foubert has written several books and articles on these topics and is a sought-after speaker and consultant to colleges across the nation and the military. He makes frequent appearances on CNN and NPR, and is cited regularly in news outlets like the Huffington Post, The New York Times and U.S. News & World Report. He has testified before Congress and briefed the White House and the Pentagon about how to end sexual violence.

The university community is invited to an all-employee meeting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, in Hoover 105.

The meeting will feature various updates, including the financial year end/surplus report, and the recipients of the Administrator of the Year and Staff of the Year will be announced. The event will be live-streamed at the Portland Center in Room 160.

The Medallion Hunt, an annual event put on by Alumni and Parent Relations, brings together students and alumni for a fun, campus-wide treasure hunt. The custom crystal medallion has already been hidden somewhere on campus, and the lucky person to find it receives $200 and a gets to keep it.

To solve the clues and win the prize, you’ll have to tap into your knowledge of campus and George Fox history and do some research sleuthing to make your way to the secret location. It’s elementary, my dear Watson!

Watch the Alumni Relations social media Facebook and Instagram accounts for clues each day of the week leading up to Homecoming (Sept. 26-Oct. 1). Students will look for the physical medallion and alumni will solve the clues digitally. Will you be the first to find the crystal medallion?

You are invited to attend and help spread the word about a six-week leadership workshop that is being hosted by athletics. You don’t have to be an athlete or coach to be part of Bruins LEAD. It is simply an opportunity to develop your leadership skills.

We will take basic leadership concepts and spend one hour diving into details of how to develop responsible and respected leaders.
