The opening of the Hadlock Student Center will be delayed, with an anticipated grand opening event for the entire campus community the week of Sept. 10. We are working closely with our contractor and will keep the campus community updated regarding the opening date as soon as it is confirmed.
When the center opens, there will be a number of exciting new programs and services for students and employees. Please take a few minutes to review the policies for employees, spouses, dependents, students and guests.
Two important items to note:
- Anyone entering the building will be required to have a valid George Fox University ID card; there will be no exceptions.
- All employees, spouses, dependents, students and guests will be required to have a completed liability and release form on file. This form will be live on MyGFU soon, and information will be sent out with a link once the form is available.
We are excited to share this beautiful new facility with the campus community! Contact Rob Simpson, director of campus recreation (simpsonr@georgefox.edu) or Keith Schneider, assistant director of campus recreation (kschneid@georgefox.edu) with any questions.

The university community is invited to join professor Paul Anderson and student Anastasia Reinhardt as they lead Contemplative Worship (or, unprogrammed worship after the manner of Friends) on Thursdays in Hoover 250. The gathering will meet each Thursday this semester from 10:50 to 11:40 a.m., and all are welcome.
The first five experiences will count for chapel elective credit if students desire. Our hope is that students develop spiritual sensitivity to the light of Christ within.

The city of Newberg will be testing large water meters for accuracy this morning (Tuesday). During the test, which may last 15 to 30 minutes, the water flow may be reduced or it may be off completely.
Locations for testing – which may result in the water being off completely – are Wheeler, Hobson, Macy and Sutton. Wood-Mar’s meter will also be tested, but the water meter has a bypass, so the interruption in service may not be noticeable in Wood-Mar.
Judging from past experience, the water might look a little cloudy when it runs after the test. If you are concerned, run the faucets a bit to clear the line after testing. Air in the line will make the water look cloudy from the aeration, but the water is fine.
If you have any concerns, please contact the Plant Services office at ext. 2010.
