The Intercultural Resource Center (IRC) invites you to participate in our unique leadership program that will encourage growth, relationship and cultural awareness. This unique student leadership opportunity is for students who are seeking to be culturally engaged and who have a desire to see change take place on campus.

In addition to training with your peers on a weekly basis (Jan. 17 to March 21), students involved in the program will be attending the SCORR (Student Congress of Racial Reconciliation Conference) in the month of February, hosted at Biola University.

Interested in taking the stage for the theatre department’s 10!10!10! 10-minute play festival? Join us for auditions from 8 to 10 p.m. tomorrow night (Tuesday) in Wood-Mar Auditorium.

Callbacks will take place Thursday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. in Wood-Mar Auditorium. We are in need of seven males and 15 females.

To prepare, theatre majors/minors should come with a fully memorized and rehearsed 90-second contemporary monologue. Non-majors can perform a cold reading from a monologue that is provided for them.

The readers are members of Professor Gary Tandy’s Advanced British Literature class under the direction of Hope Bellinger, a senior theatre major. The presentation is suitable for children.

The Fall Retreat will be Nov. 9-11 at Twin Rocks Camp. This will be a time carved out especially for you and your needs in this busy season. There will be worship, a speaker, fun activities and fellowship with one another.

The Office of Commuter Life will be hosting a relationship retreat Feb. 8-10, 2019. The retreat is open to undergraduate married, engaged or seriously dating couples (one person per couple must be an undergraduate George Fox student). There will be a small fee per couple for a weekend-long retreat on the Oregon Coast.

The second part of the retreat is a “Great Date Night” scheduled for Sunday, March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. Mark your calendar now for both events and save the dates if you hope to attend. More information will be coming in the months to come.

The Photography Club’s first outing will be happening today (Sunday). We will be visiting the Holcomb Creek Trestle outside of Hillsboro and the Portland Japanese Garden. We will be carpooling from the George Fox campus. We will be meeting in the circular parking lot beside Pennington and Klages and leaving around 10 a.m. We plan to return to campus around 3 p.m.

Snacks will be provided, but we highly suggest bringing a lunch or money to pay for lunch. The Japanese Garden also has an admission fee of $13.50 for students. Please bring a camera or your phone with you for taking photos, as well as a rain jacket and boots.

A group of students within the NURS 401 Community Health class has partnered with the Bruin Community Pantry (BCP) to assess the needs regarding food insecurity on our campus. We would appreciate your feedback and input!

The survey should take about five to 10 minutes to complete. The feedback we receive will be used to better understand the community population and needs to be met. If there are needs and appropriate recommendations made, it will be shared with those overseeing the pantry on campus. We also encourage you to share this survey with other peers.

Come and join our Stewards of Sustainability Club meeting to get involved in making our campus more sustainable! Our next meeting is from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in EHS 325.

The club’s goal is to educate and empower George Fox students to be good stewards of the earth. At this meeting, the leadership will be presenting the club constitution for approval by the attending students. We will also be forming multiple committees to take on special projects related to environmental sustainability.

Hear from Norah Otondo, the program director for Quilts for Empowerment, about her journey of faith and resilience in the face of stigmatization and suffering on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Intercultural House.

QFE is a local nonprofit that works toward personal and economic empowerment for sexual assault and obstetric fistula survivors in Kenya. This is Norah’s first time traveling outside of Africa to share her story.

If you would like to hear a voice that often goes unheard, engage in discussions at a multicultural event, see the beautiful art quilts created by survivors, and learn how QFE is empowering women, then please come!

Light refreshments and good company will be present. Elective chapel credit is offered.
