Apply to go to the Sundance Film Festival

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019

We are now taking student applications for attending the Sundance Film Festival! Apply here.

In January 2020, selected George Fox students are traveling to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The Sundance Film Festival is widely regarded as the most prestigious annual showcase for new work from American and international independent filmmakers.

Along with the Sundance Festival, George Fox students will also be attending the Windrider Forum, a venue for conversations about the intersection of faith and film.

We are tentatively scheduled to attend from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1. Attending students will be required to notify professors in advance of anticipated absences, and create appropriate academic work plans. Personal costs for students will be approximately $975 (not including food and incidentals), depending on airline and lodging costs.

You do not need to be a cinematic arts or communication major to attend.  Applications from all full-time undergraduate students will be considered, but we will be limited to traveling with approximately 10 to 12 selected students.

During the spring 2020 semester, CMCO 285/485, a selected topics course, will be offered on “Independent Cinema,” and will connect to the Sundance trip experience. Students will have the option (not requirement) of registering for this course to receive credit connected to the Sundance and later semester experiences.

Graduating seniors: Check out the Pay It Forward Program

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019

Graduating seniors, do you know about the Pay It Forward Program?

By opting to donate all or half of your remaining enrollment deposit, you can help other George Fox students. One-hundred percent of your gift will support a fellow student who is unable to continue their education or an alum who has a remaining amount due to the university.

Recipients are nominated by faculty and staff members, then vetted for eligibility, and allocations are made by the Pay It Forward Award Committee. As part of the program, awardees are asked to continue the generosity by “paying it forward” in the future.

Learn more about this amazing program during Exodus at the Student Accounts table, or contact Heidi Thomason at hthomaso@georgefox.edu for more information.
