July 20-25: Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (NWYM) is holding its annual church conference. This is the longest-running summer conference at George Fox. The NWYM is a community of evangelical Friends churches who join together in worship and service to impact society through love in action. They utilize the art office located in Ross as their headquarters while they are on campus.
July 22-27: The SIMIODE math conference, hosted by our own Corban Harwood, brings mathematics professors from across the country to sharpen skills and collaborate on complex equations and practices.
July 22-25: Our new head women’s coach, Michael Coppolino, is hosting a Bruin Basketball Academy camp in Wheeler for elementary and middle school kids to improve their basketball skills.
July 22-26: The Bruin baseball program is hosting a day camp on Morse Field.Â
July 26-28: The Chinese Evangelical Church retreat arrives for its annual church retreat on Friday, July 24. Several Chinese churches from Oregon and Washington gather together each summer to worship together and share what God is doing in and through their congregations.

Chinese Evangelical Church Retreat, July 26-28
Several Chinese churches from Oregon and Washington gather together each summer to worship together and share what God is doing in and through their congregations.
Bruin Camp Nike-Sponsored Overnight Softball Camp, July 29-Aug. 3
George Fox softball coach Jessica Hollen is working for Nike U.S. Sports Camps to provide instruction in hitting, fielding, and base-running skills that enhance campers’ overall knowledge of the game. Camp is for grades 7-12.

The vehicle registration portal opens up today (Monday, July 22) on MyGFU for sophomores to register their vehicles for residential parking permits! Be sure to have your DMV registration slip in front of you, as you will need some of that information in order to register.
Freshmen need to fill out the parking permit application form located on the Campus Public Safety website (beginning July 1) if they are going to be living on campus. If your application is approved, you will be sent a link where you can register.
The portal is currently open for commuters and graduate students.

Want to walk with George Fox University in the Old Fashioned Festival parade on the morning of Saturday, July 27? The MarCom office is looking for students, employees and their families to walk alongside some George Fox-sponsored vehicles while handing out candy, stickers and social media cards.
We are looking for around 50 people to sign up to volunteer in the parade; the first 25 will receive a free George Fox T-shirt to wear during the parade!

It will be served with mixed fresh-fruit sticks, tortilla chips and salsa, and a house-made churro cup filled with dulce de leche ice cream, all for just $7.25.

One-hundred and sixty-five campers are here to learn basketball skills and the importance of goal setting, gratitude, positive attitude, integrity, forgiveness, leadership, and a strong personal faith. Mark Johnson is the camp director.
SIMIODE Mathematics Conference, July 17-27
SIMIODE is the Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations. George Fox’s own Corban Harwood is hosting a national mathematics conference filled with intensive workshops for mathematics professors visiting from multiple states.                Â

The university community is invited to support cinematic arts student Coleman Weimer as his documentary film, Mt. Angel Pilgrim, plays at an opening reception for the “Pilgrimage” Diocesan Fine Art Exhibit at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 147 N.W. 19th, in Portland.
Come meet Coleman and other artists as they present their work this Sunday, July 14. Two sessions are scheduled, from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the cathedral’s Kemper Hall. There is no charge to attend.
The following Sunday, July 21, Coleman’s film will be shown at a special screening at the same location beginning at 9 a.m. That event will feature a Q&A with Coleman and the subject of the film, a man named Sherman.

The Hadlock Student Center will have extended hours July 11-18 as the university hosts NBC basketball camps on campus. Our hours will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Starting Monday, July 22, we will return to our normal hours for the remainder of the summer.Â
Please note that all three basketball courts will be in use during times when NBC camp groups are utilizing the building.
