Take advantage of bookstore’s textbook pick-up party

Don’t wait until the first day of classes to pick up your textbooks! Instead, swing by the bookstore’s textbook pick-up party during Welcome Weekend, down in the FoxHole.

Textbook pick-ups will be available for students who placed their orders online and have prepaid for their items. Our pick-up party will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon to 3 p.m. Be sure to bring your student ID, and we will see you then!

Make plans to audition for fall musical comedy

Come audition for George Fox theatre’s fall musical comedy, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, by Freedman and Lutvak.

Here is the info …

  • General Auditions: Thursday, Aug. 29 (fully rehearse and memorize a 90-second comic monologue and one minute of a Broadway song of your choice (bring sheet music to the audition). Sign up for a five-minute audition slot on the theatre call board in the Lemmons Center. All auditions will take place between 7 and 10 p.m.
  • Callbacks: Friday, Aug. 30 (7-10 p.m.) and Saturday, Aug. 31 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Callbacks will feature cold readings from the script, dance auditions and vocal work.
  • Rehearsals: Monday through Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. and four hours on Saturday. However, we will work around your schedule conflicts. Rehearsals start on Monday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m.
  • Show Dates: Oct. 17-19 & 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m.

Last call to register for Bruins Sports Day

George Fox’s athletics department and Chehalem Parks and Recreation are excited to announce the fifth annual Bruins Sports Day. Girls and boys entering the second through eighth grades this fall will have the opportunity to pick one of 11 sports to participate in an afternoon clinic, free of charge. 

The event takes place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. at the site of your sport. Early registration is encouraged. Space is limited!

Mail Services offers new service beginning Monday

Starting Monday, Aug. 19, Mail Services is excited to announce it now has a dedicated area to prepare and send all of your outgoing packages. Come to where Print Services used to be and you will have access to all of the packaging supplies you need.

No more standing in long lines and no more holding up the lines. We want to make your time as efficient and friendly as possible. Same high level of customer service … just a new location.

Single sign-on for Gmail and FoxTALE coming Friday

IT is excited to announce a new single sign-on (SSO) process for George Fox systems. We have replaced our current SSO provider, and this Friday, Aug. 16, Gmail and FoxTALE will be included in this change.

This new process will allow you to use more apps by only logging into a system once.

Library’s 24-hour space will be closed three hours on Aug. 25

The library will be conducting a student employee training event on Sunday, Aug. 25. Therefore, the 24-hour space will not be available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The 24-hour space will reopen at 2:30 p.m.

Please avoid parking in Wheeler/Le Shana parking lot Friday

This Friday, Aug. 16, Plant Services will be cleaning the large Wheeler/Le Shana parking lot. The construction fence for the Newlin residence hall is down, so we would like to clean the entire lot before the cars start arriving.

Please be sure to park elsewhere on Friday (you can park in the North Street parking lot that day) so that we can clean the area thoroughly.

Please clear Wood-Mar lot next Friday for crane work

Please have all vehicles out of the Wood-Mar parking lot by Friday, Aug. 16, at noon. The crane will be moving into place the new HVAC on the roof. 

On Saturday, the parking lot, Wood-Mar and EHS will be closed for the crane work. Thanks for your cooperation, and don’t get your car trapped inside the lot for the weekend!

New student account statements are in the mail

Wednesday we mailed a bill to each student with a balance due. This new statement has a very different look and feel.

Change can be hard, even when it is positive change, so to assist with questions that may arise we have a web page designed to answer anticipated questions. Simply go to sa.georgefox.edu and choose “FAQ,” or you can search the George Fox website for “Student Accounts FAQ.”

Drivers needed for airport pick-up of international students

We are looking for George Fox-approved driver(s) to pick up first-year incoming international students at the Portland International Airport on Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17.

New George Fox single sign-on process begins today

In following up from the all-employee meeting on July 25, we want to remind you that George Fox is changing its single sign-on process today, Aug. 7.

All current systems using single sign-on (ie. Library services, StarRez, Handshake, Slate, etc.) will be directed to a new login page. On Aug. 16, we will also add Gmail and FoxTALE.

Please note: The first time you log in you will be asked to enter a secondary email as well as choose security questions and an image. This is to confirm your account going forward; after entering this information in once, you will not need to do it again.
