Guest Robert P. George gives lecture on the Constitution March 14

The university community is invited to a lecture featuring Robert P. George at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, in Bauman Auditorium. George will be speaking on “Civic Virtues and the Constitution: The Founders’ Plan to Protect Liberty and Prevent Tyranny.”

Don’t miss this compelling lecture from one of the nation’s preeminent and influential conservative Christian thinkers, an award-winning teacher, and top scholar in ethics, law, politics and philosophy. George is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. More information can be found here.

Enter the Bruin Community Pantry’s food drive competition

Between Monday, Feb. 25, and Friday, March 1, the Bruin Community Pantry will be holding a food drive competition. Each individual product donated will be tallied to determine the winning department.

Departments wishing to compete for the prize – a box of pastries from Newberg Bakery – should email Jere Witherspoon no later than Monday, Feb. 18. Please include the number of people participating in your department.

All items should be delivered to the food bank in Roberts Center 110 during the following times:

  • Monday and Thursday – Noon to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Because the pantry has a plethora of certain items, only items found on this list will be counted. Please no macaroni and cheese, green beans, corn, or soup.

Nursing serve team holds coin drive Feb. 21

The George Fox nursing department Kenya Serve Team is hosting a campus-wide coin drive on Thursday, Feb. 21. Starting at 8 p.m., the team will be going to each dorm on campus asking for loose change to help support their trip to Kenya.

Hadlock Student Center offers two new climbing classes

The Hadlock Student Center is offering two new climbing classes for those looking to develop skills.

Lead Climbing: This is for experienced climbers looking to develop their rope and belay skills. This will be a four-part course and introduce participants to lead climbing, belaying and falling. The class and certification costs $20. Anyone interested in lead climbing at HSC will need to take the full course. The ability to comfortably climb 5.9 and higher is required to enroll. This class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. starting on Feb. 12.

School of Rock: This is a four-week climbing movement course focusing on fundamental principles of climbing. It’s great for those new to climbing or for people looking to hone their skills. This class will be offered Tuesdays at noon and Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. starting on Feb. 12.
