Join marketing focus group tonight and get free pizza and a coffee card

The university’s marketing communications office is hosting a student focus group from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday). Group members will have the exclusive opportunity to dialogue about their experience at George Fox. Space is limited.

There will be free pizza served during the event, and each participant will receive a $20 coffee card. This unique opportunity is limited to eight students total.

Gather for Alex Hastings’ senior composition recital Saturday

Come hear new music at Alex Hastings’ senior composition recital in Bauman Auditorium this Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m.

The performers will play original compositions for piano, wind instruments, marimba, string instruments, and more. The recital will also include the premiere of “Spectrum” – a multimedia work for strings, computer and video – that was created to raise autism awareness. Come for a fun and diverse afternoon of music!

Donate to blood drive on April 10

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. All blood types and Power Red donors are urged to give now to prevent delays in medical care for patients in need.

Be a hero and donate on Friday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Abby’s Pizza. If you are interested in signing up for a time slot, there are four ways to do so:

Volunteer for skin screenings done by PT students

The School of Physical Therapy is looking for volunteers for a skin screening session on Wednesday, April 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Roberts Center. Second-year physical therapy students, along with a medical doctor, will review your skin for any abnormalities.

Kick off spring break with whitewater rafting trip

Do you need some adventure for spring break? Come whitewater rafting with OREC on the Clackamas River on Saturday, March 21. This will be an awesome day on the water surrounded by iconic Pacific Northwest scenery.

YD Adventures will facilitate the trip and provide all river equipment. The trip cost is $35 and includes transportation. Sign up through IMLeagues.com.

Come to presentation by filmmaker of ‘America Lost’

On Wednesday, March 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 103, the American Enterprise Institute is hosting Discovery Institute Research Fellow Christopher Rufo.

Rufo has primarily researched cities, inequality and social capital. He produced America Lost, a feature documentary that explores life in three “forgotten American cities,” diving into the dramatic decline of the American interior.

Learn jazz routine at dance clinic with Bruin Dancers Saturday

The George Fox dance team is hosting a free clinic this Saturday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Hadlock Student Center. This is an opportunity for dancers of all experience levels to get together and learn technique and a jazz routine!

No prior dance experience is necessary for attendance, and the clinic is open to all George Fox students. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask current Bruin Dancers questions about auditions and their experience being on the dance team.
