  • Monday, May 15: DASH Diet Taster and Educational Session
  • Tuesday, May 16: Yoga Exercise Session
  • Wednesday, May 17: High Fitness Exercise Class
  • Thursday, May 18: Sports Nutrition Taster and Educational Session

Plant Services announces summer hours

There’s still time to sign up for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program’s annual Run For Africa event on Saturday, May 6. The 5K or one-mile fun run/walk raises money to support PT’s medical mission to Uganda.

Join a Wilderness First Responder course in August

University Recreation is hosting a Wilderness First Responder course this August on the Newberg campus.

The course is ideal for anyone who spends a significant amount of time recreating in outdoor settings. The curriculum also provides essential training in wilderness medicine, leadership, and critical thinking for professionals and leaders working and traveling in outdoor, low-resource, and remote environments.

We have four spots remaining in this course, and they may go quickly!

Bridge Cafe announces its hours for the summer

Murdock Library posts summer hours

Beginning this Saturday, April 29, the Murdock Library will be open this summer Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The 24-hour space will remain open during the summer.

The university community is invited to the Interprofessional Primary Care Institute’s “Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy” event May 9-11.

Both in-person and Zoom sessions will be hosted, with Tuesday’s event taking place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s meetings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sessions will feature Dr. Patricia Robinson and Dr. Kirk Strosahl, founders of Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and internationally renowned psychologists.

This CME is an excellent cross-training opportunity in behavioral theory and practice for the medical, dental, pharmacy and nursing professions.

Bruin Community Pantry announces summer hours

The Bruin Community Pantry food bank’s summer hours will start on Monday, May 1, and run through Friday, Aug. 25.

Here are our summer hours:

  • Mondays: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 4-6 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: Noon to 1:30 p.m.; 4-5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 9-11 a.m.
  • Thursdays: 4-6 p.m.

We will be closed May 29, June 19 and July 4.

Join free DASH diet taster and educational session May 15

Almost 50% of Americans have high blood pressure. The DASH diet is a science-supported diet that can help to reduce one’s blood pressure. In addition, people who follow a DASH diet experience improvements in weight and lipid levels, and have a reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes.

On Monday, May 15, the School of Physical Therapy will host an educational session at which participants can sample four DASH dishes and be entered to win one of three DASH cookbooks. The free 6 p.m. session in the Medical Sciences Building (448 Werth Blvd.) is limited to 30 participants and is open to the public.

All Bon Appetit locations have updated hours during finals week. Canyon Commons and the Bridge Café will have normal hours Monday through Thursday. On Friday, April 28, the Bridge Café will close at 2 p.m.

Canyon Commons will have the following hours:

  • Friday, April 28
    • Breakfast: 7 to 10 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Dinner: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 29
    • Brunch: 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Guitarist Doyle Dykes hosts free clinic and concert tomorrow

We are privileged to welcome guitarist Doyle Dykes in concert at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) in Wood-Mar Auditorium.

Dykes is arguably the most gifted fingerstyle guitarist alive today, and he has dedicated himself and his gifts to the Lord, blending Scripture and inspirational stories into his playing. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to spend an evening with him.

In addition to his evening performance, Dykes will be hosting a guitar clinic Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. in Ross 208. To reserve a spot, contact Emma Rieth at erieth@georgefox.edu.

Our cinematic arts students have been hard at work all year creating short films through a variety of courses. There are several categories the films fall under, including Live Action Film, Animated Film, Fresh Film (from first-year students), Narrative, and Documentary/Non-Fiction.
