The Office of Inclusive Excellence will be hosting monthly gatherings called Quake, inspired by the historic Quaker commitment to peace and justice interpersonally and on a societal level. These gatherings are designed to aid students and staff to be God’s agents of peace, to work for justice, and to demonstrate Christ’s love to a broken world.
We’re inviting students, faculty and staff to join us on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 3:30 p.m. in Hoover 207 for a free talk with counselor, speaker and George Fox graduate, Katie Wise.
Katie will share about the markers of healthy and unhealthy relationships, how to establish healthy boundaries, how to say “no,” and she’ll also talk about how to be vulnerable and how to name your own needs in a relationship.
Whether you’re dating, single, searching, or married, this discussion will help you level up and show up with confidence, knowing how to better honor yourself and others.
Feel free to contact Crystal McGowen with any questions at cmcgowen@georgefox.edu.

This Wednesday, Sept. 10, several campus buildings will experience a planned power outage as PGE replaces old utility poles. Students in affected areas have been notified via email. The outage is scheduled to begin between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. PGE anticipates all work will be completed by 3 p.m.
Affected Buildings
- Art and Cinematic Arts Building
- Beals House
- Klages/Bookstore/Market
- CPS Office
- Intercultural Resource Center
- Woodward House (Health and Counseling)
Parking Information
To accommodate large PGE vehicles and ensure safety, we’re asking students, faculty and staff who park on Sheridan Street (east of River Street), Hancock Street (east of River Street) and Carlton Way (south of Sheridan Street) to move their vehicles to the Bauman parking lot on the day of the work. Once the work is completed and barriers are removed, the streets will reopen.
Sensitive Equipment
We recommend that you unplug electronics such as laptops, TVs or other sensitive devices in case of a power surge. Refrain from opening refrigerators during an outage to keep food cold.
Since many will be participating in the annual Serve Day, the power outage should not impact you. We appreciate your cooperation as PGE completes this essential maintenance.

The posting and display policy at George Fox applies to student-sponsored public displays, posters, and chalking. This updated policy is designed to support your events and initiatives while keeping our campus clean and welcoming.
Here is a basic definition of each:
- Displays generally consist of a number of images or ideas intended to engage the campus community, create awareness, or generate discussion.
- Posters are typically used to advertise a specific event or promote activities for an officially recognized club or organization.
- Chalking is the act of writing or drawing with water-soluble chalk on approved outdoor surfaces.
You can find all the details you need in the Student Handbook’s “Policy for Student Posters, Displays, and Chalking” section.
Key reminders:
- Please read these specific policies carefully to ensure your materials are approved and compliant.
- Approval process: All posters, displays, and chalking content must be approved by the Office of Student Life before being placed.
- Approved locations: Only post on designated bulletin boards, posting kiosks, or sandwich boards.
- Prohibited areas: Do not post on walls, windows or doors. Also, please note that chalking is prohibited on vertical surfaces, under overhangs, or on the Crisman Crossing bridge or the chapel sidewalks.
- Adhesion and removal: Use push pins or removable tape only, and remember to remove your materials once your event is over.
Have questions? Please email the student life office at studentlife@georgefox.edu.

Following are the policies for using Bruin Discounts:
- Only one use per visit is allowed.
- Discounts cannot be combined with other sales or promotions.
- You must present your George Fox ID card to redeem the discount.
- The employee or student must be present at the time of purchase.
- Spouses or family members may not redeem the discount on their own.
We encourage you to frequent and thank these local businesses for their generosity and for supporting our George Fox community.
Do you know of a business that would like to join? They can submit their offer using this form.
