Support A Family Place’s diaper and clothing drive at this Friday’s volleyball game

Sunday, November 3rd, 2024

The university’s volleyball program will be hosting a diaper and clothing drive for A Family Place, a relief care nursery that strives to address risk factors present in young families. Some of the largest needs of families in this community are diapers size 4-6, and pull-ups and clothing size 2T and up.

Any donation will make a huge impact on our Newberg community and help relieve stress in many families.

Support your George Fox volleyball team and your local A Family Place relief care nursery at the Senior Night game this Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. in Wheeler.

If you have any questions, email Kennedy Kibby at kkibby21@georgefox.edu.

Please use personal transportation responsibly

Thursday, October 31st, 2024

As part of our commitment to campus safety, we want to ensure all personal transportation devices, including bicycles, skateboards, and e-mobility devices, are used responsibly. All devices must be operated respectfully on roads and sidewalks only, with operators yielding to pedestrians and using courteous communication when approaching. For everyone’s safety, all devices may not be ridden inside campus buildings, and riders should keep wheels on the ground at all times.

For those using e-mobility devices, university policy supports their safe and respectful use around campus. E-mobility devices, such as e-scooters, e-bikes, and hoverboards, should be ridden at slower speeds, especially in pedestrian-heavy areas. Devices must not block fire exits, stairways, or emergency access areas and should be parked only at designated bike racks. Remember, helmets and other safety gear are highly recommended. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our campus safe and accessible for all!

Use Morse parking lot to avoid the scary traffic situation tomorrow

Wednesday, October 30th, 2024

Tomorrow (Friday), cement trucks will be arriving on campus as early as 7 a.m. to start pouring cement at the cinematic arts/art building site next to the Klages Center. There will be times when you shall not pass the cement truck, as it’ll be blocking Carlton Way across from Weesner Village.

What can a ghoul do? You may have to wait 20 minutes in order to move when the cement truck is leaving, but if there’s another cement truck in the queue ready to go, that window will not open and you’ll have to continue waiting (we’ve all “been there, done bat”).

If you’d rather avoid all of the hullaba-boo, we’ll treat you right at the Morse parking lot. Or, if you’ve got another thing pumpkin and don’t plan on leaving for the day, stay put!

The cement trucks will be circling (“what ghost around comes around”) until about 1 p.m. tomorrow. Thank you for your patience! We appreciate you reading the announcement. It’s been a scream.

Please extend the Be Known promise to our Bruin Preview guests

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be hosting Bruin Preview on campus tomorrow (Friday). With over 700 visitors expected on campus, we are asking George Fox students and employees to help extend the Be Known promise throughout the day. Here’s what you can keep in mind.

  • Guests will be arriving on campus between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. and will fill all the main campus parking lots. Students and employees are encouraged to take advantage of street parking and the Morse lot (near softball fields). Additional temporary overflow parking will be available at the Highway 99 lot, which is right next to Steve’s Automotive. Do not park in spaces marked off for Steve’s Automotive.
  • Be mindful of guests in your housing area. We will have housing tours circulating through Newlin, Edwards, Gulley, Pennington, and HMS from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour groups will be viewing dorm lobbies and a room in each dorm.
  • Plan for a much busier-than-usual lunch in Canyon Commons. Guests will be going through the main servery lines and will eat in the main dining area. If you see a family looking for a spot to sit, invite them to join you and help direct them to their next activity.
  • Offer a helping hand by giving directions to students and their families!
  • Ninety prospective students have opted to stay overnight tonight before the main event! Be mindful and welcoming of prospective students to be in your on-campus living areas starting at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

If you have any questions, email visit@georgefox.edu or call Lauren Hill at 503-554-2245.
