Campus Public Safety (formerly Security Services) desires that there be at least one or more staff or students trained in First Aid/CPR/AED in each building, and summer is a great time to take this training!
This class will be offered on the Newberg campus on Monday and Tuesday, June 18-19, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day in the Hoover Academic Building. Sign-ups can be done here, more information is available and payment can be made on the Campus Public Safety website, and you can pick up your book before class in the Campus Public Safety office after registering and paying.
Class is limited to just eight people, so sign up soon! Non-George Fox people can also register, so pass the word along if you know of people who are interested or need to re-certify.
Contact Mark Stone (mstone@georgefox.edu) with any questions.

The university community is invited to a professional reading of the Big Bridge Theatre Consortium’s play The Shakers of Mount Lebanon Will Hold a Peace Conference this Month, written by Arlene Hutton, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. There is no charge to attend, but tickets need to be reserved at georgefox.edu/bigbridge.
The Big Bridge Theatre Consortium is a group of university theatre programs, led by George Fox’s theatre department, that are committed to developing new plays dedicated to peace and interfaith conflict. During the week of June 18-22, Hutton and a host of professional theatre artists will work together to bring Hutton’s first draft to life. The play explores the 1905 Shaker community’s quest to sharpen their peace-witness to the world despite a community’s in-fighting, identity-politics, and struggle to survive.
Questions? Contact Rhett Luedtke at rluedtke@georgefox.edu.

From now until late this month, the sidewalk and lawn area on the south side of the Roberts Center near the physical therapy entrance and the pathway between Canyon Commons and the Hadlock Student Center will be closed and blocked off for construction work. There may be a pathway available close to the Roberts Center, but it will be through the bushes and planter bed (not hard surface).
Pedestrian traffic from Lewis Apartments and Sherman Street east of the Hadlock Student Center to Canyon Commons and the Crisman Crossing pedestrian bridge will need to go the long way around Roberts Center to Brandt Hall and the north side of Canyon Commons (access through North Street).
The construction of this area is expected to be finished by Monday, June 25. Thank you for your patience as we complete updating this area!

Students and employees: If you are traveling to attend a conference or vacation trip off campus, and wish to leave your vehicle on campus while you are gone, please be aware of our “vehicles on campus” policy.
Due to the construction projects happening around campus – and the potential need to quickly move vehicles for construction and maintenance access – we’d prefer that vehicles not be left on campus. However, if campus is the only option, then your keys must be left with Campus Public Safety, and a waiver form needs to be signed.
George Fox is not responsible for potential loss or damage to your vehicle, and we will tell you which lot to leave your vehicle in, taking into consideration construction projects. The Campus Public Safety office is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday during the summer, but an officer can meet you at the office to either drop off your keys or pick them up by calling 503-554-2090 if it is after business hours.
Please help our Plant Services personnel and construction crews finish their projects on time by adhering to this policy.
Thank you!

We’re heading out on Route 66 again this summer and will be serving up foods that pay homage to this quintessential all-American highway every Wednesday (with the exception of July 4) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., starting June 6 and running through Aug. 1.
We’ll be on the patio outside Canyon Commons the first few weeks and finish off our culinary journey on the patio outside the Klages Center. Don’t forget to pick up a road trip punch card and have it punched every time you join us; those who visit four or more times will be entered into a drawing for a raffle prize at the end of the road!

If you’re on campus tomorrow (Sunday), feel free to come watch the moving of the historic Villa Road House, which will be transported, along with the smaller carriage house, down Fulton and North Meridian streets to a new location on Sheridan Street. The Villa Road House will be renamed the Chehalem House.
The move will begin at around 5:30 a.m. and finish up late in the afternoon. The university has obtained a public right-of-way permit, so no street parking will be allowed on affected portions of Fulton Street or North Meridian Street tonight until after the structures have passed. Parking will be available in the Bauman and Stoffer Stadium lot.
There will be detours and road closures throughout the day. Most notably, North Meridian will be closed at Highway 99W as the house navigates onto the new site. Fulton and North Meridian streets will be blocked for portions of Sunday.
For all the details on the move, visit this page.

We’ve been receiving calls wondering when vehicle registration for this fall will open up, and the answer is July! It will be a roll-out registration like last summer, with those who will be seniors registering first, then juniors, then sophomores, etc. Information will be posted in the Daily Bruin and sent via email, so keep watching for further details.
Commuter and graduate permits won’t be limited, but residential permits will be, so please carefully consider if you really do need a car on campus – or if taking advantage of the Enterprise Car Share program would be a much cheaper alternative, as permits will be $100 per semester.
Questions? Contact Nadine Kincaid (nkincaid@georgefox.edu).
