Hear from Norah Otondo, the program director for Quilts for Empowerment, about her journey of faith and resilience in the face of stigmatization and suffering on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Intercultural House.
QFE is a local nonprofit that works toward personal and economic empowerment for sexual assault and obstetric fistula survivors in Kenya. This is Norah’s first time traveling outside of Africa to share her story.
If you would like to hear a voice that often goes unheard, engage in discussions at a multicultural event, see the beautiful art quilts created by survivors, and learn how QFE is empowering women, then please come!
Light refreshments and good company will be present. Elective chapel credit is offered.

Stop by and get informed on state and county ballot information, and fill out a voter registration card if you haven’t already.
Election Day is Nov. 6. Ballots in Oregon are mail-in and are due by Nov. 5.

George Fox Library’s “Fox at the Fireside” event is back this year with another round of exciting guests!
Next Friday, Nov. 9, from 3 to 4 p.m., gather around the Murdock Library fireplace with coffee and light refreshments to chat with Guadalupe GarcÃa McCall, award-winning young adult fiction author and assistant professor of English, about her latest books!
Her novel, Shame the Stars (Tu Books, 2016), was chosen as Texas’ Great Read 2018 by the Center for the Book in affiliation with Texas State Library and the Library of Congress. Her most recent novel, All the Stars Denied (Tu Books, 2018), has already received a starred review from School Library Journal. She will read selections from these two novels, share some stories, and open the space for further conversation around the fireplace.

If you have experienced a concussion while playing a sport or during a season in high school or college, this survey is for you!
Senior nursing students are looking for current or retired student-athletes who are willing to fill out a five-minute survey about their experiences surrounding their concussion during a season of their sport.
Our goal is to learn from you about how the concussion impacted your academic life and quality of life to better support and educate our coaches, teachers/professors, and other staff about the healing process and support needed.
There is also a $5 Amazon gift card for a lucky friend who participates!

Emily Forbes, a George Fox alumna and local nutritionist, is passionate about helping students learn to make healthy meals. You will walk away with knowledge on how to make a dish, a sample and the recipe! It’s like watching a cooking show, but you actually get to taste the food! Join us!

The university community is invited to a special William Penn Honors Program lecture featuring Bradley Campbell, coauthor of The Rise of Victimhood Culture: Microaggressions, Safe Spaces, and the New Culture Wars, in Hoover 105 at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The title of his presentation is “Dignity, Victimhood and the Future of the University.â€
Campbell, a sociologist, will discuss the challenges that new moral concepts and related trends are posing to scholarship, free speech and students’ well-being at contemporary universities, along with some possible solutions. The lecture is free and open to the public.
