George Fox will be running a routine test of our FoxAlert text message midday on Friday, April 12. Students and employees should expect a text and email. This is the emergency alert system George Fox uses to get information out quickly. In the event of an actual emergency, you would be notified of further action to take.
If you don’t get a FoxAlert text message, make sure your emergency contact information is updated. Your cell phone number may not be in the FoxAlert system.
To update your campus emergency contact info for text alerts, follow these instructions:
- Log in to your My.GeorgeFox account.
- Click on “Profile.”
- Click on “Contact Details.”
- Make sure your cell phone number is listed under the phone section or click the plus button to type in your number.
- You must choose your cell and click “Preferred” to receive text alerts.
- Click “Save” to make sure your cell phone number is added to the text messaging on the FoxAlert system.

Are you curious about climate change and its solutions? Do you like free cookies? Come to EHS 125 today (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. to eat cookies with the Stewards of Sustainability Club and listen to a presentation on how climate change is fought at state and national levels.
We will be welcoming members of the local chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby to talk about different policies that work to mitigate climate change and provide a behind-the-scenes view on how those policies are created.

Nursing students are collecting baby clothes for Hope Clinic in Salem, a recent clinical location of theirs. Hope Clinic needs diapers sizes 5 to 6 and infant/children’s clothes up to size 5T. They would also be grateful for any other baby items and maternity clothing!
Beginning today (Wednesday), items can be donated in Roberts outside of Office 139. Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, April 24.

The Virtual Learning Center (formerly Portland Writing Center) is seeking a new writing consultant who is enthusiastic about helping fellow graduate and degree-completion students understand the components of effective writing. The consultant will work during the summer term and possibly beyond. This is a remote position that operates on Pacific Standard Time.
Virtual Learning Center consultants are current adult degree-completion and graduate students who work 10 hours per week meeting with students via Zoom or asynchronously.
Writing consultant duties include helping students with the following:
- Thinking through ideas for a writing assignment
- Considering writing choices with regard to audience, focus, purpose, cohesion, and organization
- Developing ideas with specific evidence
- Improving research strategies
- Applying proper documentation and formatting
- Understanding basic grammar and mechanics
- Academic coaching: time management and learning strategies

The Stewards of Sustainability Club is hosting a presentation by members of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, a nonprofit advocacy organization that works to develop nonpartisan policies to address climate change.
This informational talk will provide an overview explanation of a few different climate change mitigation policies, how they come up with and evaluate their policies, and what it is like to address these issues at local and national levels.
If you are interested in learning about how you can use your voice to fight climate change, how the lobbying process works, or how to successfully and civilly collaborate with people across the political spectrum, come listen to the presentation this Thursday, April 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in EHS 125.

The Bruin Community Pantry is looking for volunteers for the summer.
Over the summer, we hope to be open Monday through Thursday between noon and 5:30 p.m., subject to volunteer availability. If someone is available on Saturdays, we can also make that work!
Volunteers are especially needed on Tuesdays, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., as this is our big food delivery day from Yamhill Community Action Partnership (YCAP).

The George Fox volleyball team is hosting a kiddie clinic fundraiser for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade this Saturday, April 13!
Kids aged kindergarten to third grade will have a session from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with coaching from the volleyball team. The older children will have a session with the team from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The goal of the clinic is to have fun, introduce the sport, and to encourage more playing!

The university’s performing arts department invites you to a series of upcoming events this month. All will be held in Bauman Auditorium and are free unless noted. Here is the schedule:
- Tonight (Monday), the talents of 13 musicians will be on display in a 7:30 p.m. Honors Concert, highlighting their hard work, dedication and artistic growth over the past year.
- This Thursday, April 11, the university’s Worship Ensemble will lead a night of contemporary worship beginning at 7:30 p.m.
- On Sunday, April 14, the Chehalem Symphony Orchestra, George Fox Concert Choir, and Master Chorus will perform Mozart’s Coronation Mass at 3 p.m. The concert is free for George Fox students and employees, as well as children. Additional tickets can be purchased here.
- On Tuesday, April 16, a Chamber Ensemble Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., featuring pianos, fiddle and strings.
- On Thursday, April 18, the university’s theatre ensemble Epiphany will present “Home for a Minute” – an hour-long journey through deeply moving narratives, powerful dramas and songs – at 7:30 p.m. in Wood-Mar Auditorium.
- On Friday, April 19, Robi Johnson will perform a senior saxophone recital at 7:30 p.m.
- On Saturday, April 20, a senior vocal recital featuring Kathryn Erb and Chase Drake will take place at 2 p.m.

Got aches and pains? Need to recover from an injury? Want to improve your balance, strength or endurance? George Fox’s physical therapy students are hosting a free physical therapy clinic for all those interested on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between May 2 and June 7!
We are looking for people who want services for all kinds of conditions, including but not limited to general aches and pains, chronic pain, orthopedic surgery, balance/falls, pelvic floor, concussion management, sports injuries, neurological events, vestibular, general deconditioning, pediatrics, cardiovascular, and more. The DPT students are eager to serve you!
