The International Club invites everyone to a Chinese class tonight (Tuesday). Feel free to join us in the International Center/Cultural House from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
We will spend the first 30 minutes getting to know each other and review what we have learned before. The main learning time is from 7 to 8 p.m., so if some of you can’t be there until 7 p.m. you can still attend the class.
I hope to see you there, and I enjoyed the company of each of you last time.
Thank you,
Yali He (yhe11@georgefox.edu)

As our new international students are settling into their classes and establishing relationships, we would like to connect them with an American family who would serve as a friend and a point of contact outside of campus. Our past students have highly valued this opportunity to know an American family as a friend. Would you consider serving as a Fox Friendship Family?
The minimum requirements are to provide your telephone number to your students, host the students in your home for at least two meals during the school year, be available for regular contact with your students, and commit to pray for your students. If you would like to continue your relationship with the students who stayed with you during orientation, please let us know by calling or e-mailing Alex Pia (apia@georgefox.edu; ext. 2643) or Dianna McIntyre (dmcintyr@georgefox.edu; 2649) as soon as possible.
For those of you who choose to be a Fox Friendship Family, we would like to invite you as our guest for a dessert for families and students on Monday, Oct. 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room. You will not need to bring anything. Please save the date.

The Academic Resource Center is hosting a workshop, “The Most Common Editing Errors – And What To Do About Them,” this Friday, Oct. 5, from 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. in Hoover 105. Bill Jolliff, professor of English, will lead the session.
Description
Most of us don’t worry too much about a writing mistake or two. It’s what we have to say that really matters, right?
Well, yes – and no.
The bad news is that too many editing errors can keep our readers from taking us – and our ideas – seriously. The good news is that most of our errors are relatively easy to fix, once we figure out which ones we’re prone to make.
In this workshop, Bill will identify the 10 errors that professors are most likely to mark on student work, and he’ll demonstrate how to fix them.
Questions? Contact Rick Muthiah (rmuthiah@georgefox.edu or ext. 2314)

If you have not already completed the paperwork for students you have hired or rehired this fall, please do so just as soon as you can and send it to HR. For all student employees, this includes an offer letter. For students who have not worked (for GFU) before, a W-4 and I-9 are also needed, and a direct deposit form is encouraged (but not required).
Even though a student submits a time sheet, he or she cannot be set up in the payroll system and be paid without these documents. Please take a few minutes to be sure this paperwork has been submitted for all of your student employees today if possible and no later than Monday, Oct. 1.
As always, we very much appreciate your efforts with and on behalf of our students.
