Delays in delivery of packages and mail for the East Coast will be occurring over the next few days due to Hurricane Sandy. As you all know, Hurricane Sandy is beginning to hit the East Coast. We feel it is important to cover families, businesses, churches, and everyone else involved in prayer. If you would like to join, there will be space for group prayer in the Prayer Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. this morning (Tuesday).
Bring your change to Faith & Film tonight (Tuesday)! There will be a group of students selling concessions before the film as a fundraiser for Urbana, a missions conference in St. Louis that they will be attending.
Concessions will be sold from 8:30 to 9:15 p.m. At 9 p.m., we will watch The Music Within in the Cap and Gown Room. Chapel credit is available.

The campus community is invited to a public lecture to be presented tonight (Tuesday) by Dr. Mathias Zahniser, a scholar in residence at Greenville College and an expert on the relationship between Islam and Christianity. He will present “Islam and Democracy: Faith Sees Positively and Thinks Hopefully” from 7 to 9 p.m. in Hoover 105.
In addition, Zahniser will speak in chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 10:40 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium on the topic “Was Cornelius a Muslim? Faith Sees Inclusively, Knowing God Works Consistently.” That will be followed by a talk-back session in the Cap and Gown Room at noon.
Zahniser wrote the book The Mission and Death of Jesus in Islam and Christianity and is currently working on a chapter for a book edited by David Emmanuel Singh on issues related to the Incarnation in the context of Christian-Muslim faith sharing.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the university will host a Cultural Fair – and we’d love to give you the opportunity to share your culture at the big event. This includes cultures from within the U.S.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, we will host two informational meetings for those who wish to host a table at the fair that showcases their culture. If you are interested, join us at 11:40 a.m. or 12:40 p.m. in the International Center/Cultural House. We will have pizza, so join us for lunch and get the details on sharing your culture at the Cultural Fair.
The Cultural Fair will feature students from Asia, Europe, Africa and other parts of America sharing something about their own culture. You do not need to go to other countries or places to experience a different culture – just come to the Cultural Fair. You will have a chance to enjoy wonderful displays, learn something new, and of course experience delicious food from all over the world!

The campus community is invited to tonight’s (Monday’s) “Islam and the West” Liberal Arts and Critical Issues series in Hoover 105. The session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and features Mathias Zahniser, a scholar in residence at Greenville College.
Zahniser will present “The Challenge of Islam for the Liberal Arts,” in which he will discuss how a Christian liberal arts education should lead to a practice of engagement with Muslims that reveals the path and pattern of following Jesus authentically.

The men’s and women’s golf teams will participate in the Northwest Conference Fall Classics on Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 27-28, at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield, Wash. Tee times both days are 8:30 a.m., with men and women teeing off at the same time in a shotgun start.

The university community is invited to music concerts scheduled this weekend in Bauman Auditorium during Homecoming and Family Weekend.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, the university’s Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, String Ensemble, Women’s Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform a 2:30 p.m. concert. Selections will include “Peace Like a River” and “Make a Joyful Noise” (Women’s Chorale); “Come, Let’s Rejoice” (Chamber Singers); “Simple Symphony” and “Geigezoid for String Orchestra” (String Ensemble); “Gloria in Excelsis” (Concert Choir); and “Century Variants” and “Earl of Oxford March” (Symphonic Band). Admission is free.
That evening, at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-winning bassist, composer and conductor John Clayton will perform with the George Fox Jazz Ensemble for the annual “Evening of Jazz Concert.” Selections to be performed include “All of Me,” “‘Round Midnight,” “Golden Palm” and “Georgia.” Admission is free for employees and students (cost is $5 for general admission).
