Many thanks to everyone who recently supported the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society’s annual “Light The Night” event this past month. Through your generosity we were able to donate from George Fox more than $1,700 toward blood cancer research and, region-wide, Bon Appetit was able to donate over $10,000.

Exodus Fair for fall grads is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Stevens Center Atrium. You can pick up your cap and gown, order graduation announcements, enjoy some free food, and much more! Your degree is almost done, graduation is right around the corner, and it’s time to celebrate! We hope to see you there!

Note: The Exodus Fair for those students graduating in May 2013 will be in March.

  • If you want to copy content forward from a site in new FoxTALE to a Spring 2013 FoxTALE site, you can import the content by following these steps on the quick guide.
  • We continue to move spring and summer courses from the old FoxTALE. If you have an urgent need, please contact the Service Desk.

‘Faith, Sexuality and Identity’ discussion scheduled for Nov. 7

You are invited to attend “Faith, Sexuality and Identity – a Conversation,” scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Hoover 105.

This event, hosted by the Office of Student Life and the Human Sexuality Discussion Group, will be moderated by Phil Smith, chair of the university’s Department of Religious Studies. Panelists will be: Gerry Breshears, pastor and professor at Western Seminary; Darleen Ortega, Oregon Court of Appeals judge; Erica Tan, psychologist and George Fox adjunct faculty member; and Nathan Meckley, pastor at Metropolitan Community Church.

Final performances of ‘The Servant of Two Masters’ run this weekend

The final performances of the university’s fall play, The Servant of Two Masters, are this weekend. Drop by the Box Office in Pennington House to get your tickets between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday or at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night.

‘Bruin Hoopfest’ is tonight in Miller Gym

A special evening for George Fox basketball fans who want to get an early look at the Bruin men’s and women’s teams for the 2012-13 seasons are invited to a “Bruin Hoopfest” when the teams practice at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) in the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym. Admission is free.

Fans can come to watch both Bruin teams as they engage in dunking contests, half-court shot competitions, and a couple of 12-minute inter-squad scrimmages. Free prizes for the fans will also be given away.

Doug Campbell’s art exhibit opens this afternoon

Rays share experiences in Jordan at next ‘Islam and the West’ session

The campus community is invited to the final installment of the “Islam and the West” Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture series this Monday, Nov. 5, in Hoover 105.

The session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and features Patrick and Becky Ray, who lived in Jordan for several years. They will share their experiences of immersion within a Muslim society and their thoughts on the intersection of Christianity and Islam. Patrick is an assistant professor of civil engineering at George Fox, and Becky is an international public health consultant.

The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.
