Foxserve file conversion taking place in coming weeks

Monday, April 1st, 2013

IT is upgrading the equipment responsible for Newberg department shares (K: drive) over the next six to eight weeks. What you know as the server “foxserve” is being replaced by “fileserve.” There is nothing you need to do to make this happen; IT will migrate your files for you.

Some administrative offices will be migrated in the next two weeks. Academic offices and the remaining administrative offices will be migrated in May, following the completion of the spring semester.

If you are a Windows user, you will see a new drive letter (J: drive) in your Windows Explorer window in the next few days. If you are a Mac user, after the migration you will want to use this new connection string – “smb://fileserve.campus.georgefox.edu/” – and open the Employee Shares folder.

We ask that you refrain from using Fileserve (J: drive) until we migrate your department. We will communicate with point people in each department when your migration gets closer.

If you have any questions, please e-mail servicedesk@georgefox.edu.

    Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

During this lull of Spring Break, please take a moment to log on to myGFU and check your vehicle registrations to see that they are correct.

If you no longer have a vehicle, please use the minus sign to the right of the listing to delete that vehicle.

Click on the “add additional vehicle” box to add any new vehicles. If you make any changes, please e-mail Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu with the updates as the database doesn’t notify us when staff/faculty make changes and we want to keep our database as up to date as possible.

Adjuncts-if you are on contract this year and haven’t yet come to Security for a 2013 parking permit, please do so at your earliest convenience as all adjunct permits issued earlier last year expired 12-31-12. If in doubt, just check the dates listed on the bottom of the permit.

Lastly, if your white staff permit is in tatters, just bring the remains to Security and we can issue you a new permit at no cost.

If you have lost your permit, it is a mere $5 CASH to procure a shiny new one at the Security office. E-mail us ahead of time, and we can have it waiting for you!

Questions? Either call ext. 2090 or e-mail Nadine Kincaid.
