End-of-year purchasing information

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

The end of the fiscal year is quickly approaching, and with that I would like to inform you of a few requirements for year-end purchases.

Please remember that if you order merchandise, it needs to be physically here before July 1 in order to be charged to the 2012-13 fiscal year. Goods and services received after June 30, 2013 are required to be charged to the 2013-14 budget year.

Therefore, all purchasing for this fiscal year needs to be completed by June 14. No purchasing should be done for the 2012-13 year after this date. Merchandise ordered after this time frame frequently does not arrive by June 30, causing it to be charged to the following year. Also, invoices often don’t arrive for orders placed in late June until early August, long after we have closed the books for the year, again causing accounting problems.

Thank you for your help. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andy Dunn.

Career coach speaks at next Christian Chamber meeting May 28

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

Most people are in their chosen careers not just for the short run; they want to finish well.

But what does that mean? According to Portland certified coach Cal Habig, studies of hundreds of leaders have identified six characteristics of leaders who finish well, as well as six barriers to finishing well. Habig will share these insights as the featured speaker Tuesday, May 28, at the monthly Newberg meeting of the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest.

The meeting is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Cap & Gown Room (please note change in usual location).

In his coaching work, Habig helps leaders of ministries and other values-based organizations take their organizations to places of great success while working to keep the leader in a life of balance. After having served as a minister for 30 years, Habig moved into online education in 2008 and professional coaching in 2009.

Groundbreaking ceremony for new stadium is this afternoon

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Don’t forget to join us for the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Stoffer Family Stadium this afternoon (Monday) at 4 p.m.

The stadium will serve as future home of the university’s revived football program – set to kick off in 2014 after a 45-year hiatus – and the track and field team. It will be built on campus where the current track facility is located.

The groundbreaking ceremony will include a ceremonial groundbreaking, a time to honor the donors who helped make the project possible, and details on how the stadium will impact not only the university’s football and track and field programs, but athletics for the entire George Fox community.

To date, more than $5.3 million of the $7.2 million project has been raised. Crews began work on the complex – which will include the synthetic-turf Lemmons Family Field, grandstand facilities and the Duke Athletic Center (home to a training facility, a locker room, offices and classrooms) – this spring, with construction due to be completed in time for football’s kickoff in September of 2014.

To R.S.V.P. for the groundbreaking ceremony, e-mail Jan Lefebvre at jlefebvre@georgefox.edu.
