When the Bruins play at home, you can count on a packed stadium. It takes a village to make our football games the success that they are, and we’d love to have you join our team of incredible volunteers, the Bruin Brigade. All volunteers will receive lunch at each game they volunteer, free entry into the game and a T-shirt.
If you’re interested in joining the Bruin Brigade as a ticket seller or at the information table, send an email to Sarah Reid (sreid@georgefox.edu) and she’ll get you connected.

HR invites you to participate in our 10th annual Red, White and Blue Jeans Day! In recognition of our Independence Day holiday on Saturday (and observed as a university holiday on Friday, July 3), you are invited to wear casual attire in patriotic colors on Thursday, July 2.
At 3 p.m. in the shade near Minthorn, the HR staff will serve up the all-American dessert – apple pie a la mode. In addition to this refreshment and a chance to visit with coworkers, in honor of the 10th anniversary of this event, we will be treated to a brief reflection by Mark David Hall, Herbert Hoover Distinguished Professor of Politics, and will join together in singing a patriotic hymn or two.
Summer student employees are most definitely invited to join us. Portland employees will enjoy an Independence Day celebration on Wednesday, July 1.

What are the secrets to unlocking a powerful brand in the marketplace? Rob Westervelt, executive vice president of enrollment and marketing at George Fox, will speak on the subject of branding at the Tuesday, June 23, Newberg meeting of the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest. The meeting runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Windrose Conference Center, 809 W. First St. The cost is a suggested $5 donation.
Four years ago, Westervelt helped the school build a brand that has seen its net revenues grow 21 percent during a time when most universities in George Fox’s category were experiencing significant declines. As part of the presentation, Westervelt will share insights into understanding how brands are developed and destroyed. His presentation aims to help those attending improve their company’s bottom line.
Westervelt’s expertise in brand development can be seen throughout Oregon through George Fox’s “Be Known†campaign and the development of the university’s football brand. He has a passion for working with business leaders to help them understand the powerful connections between business analytics, marketing and branding.
For more information, go to the Chamber’s website, cccnw.net, or call 503-928-8354.

George Fox University is excited to welcome a freshman football player with an inspirational story. As many of you may have read in this Oregonian story by John Canzano, Rudy Hughes plans to join our campus community after serving as a major supporter of his mother as she battled cancer during his high school years in West Linn. In part because of the financial hardships incurred with her treatment, the family is seeking loans and has started a GoFundMe account to help cover the cost of college.
Unfortunately, the NCAA has strict guidelines for student-athletes that prohibit university employees from funding their education. In short, if you are an employee of George Fox, it is a violation of NCAA rules to donate to Rudy’s account, and doing so jeopardizes his eligibility to play football.
We are obviously excited Rudy will be joining us, as he has exhibited tremendous character in trying circumstances, but we also do not wish to hurt his chances of suiting up for the Bruins this fall. Please refrain from donating to the GoFundMe account if you are a George Fox employee.
