Be patient as Plant Services completes numerous projects

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016

As usual, Plant Services has had super busy summer. We are still in the process of completing multiple building and remodeling projects, as well as several smaller projects and numerous office moves. As a result, we have accumulated more than 1,000 open work requests.

We are working hard to catch up but must complete student housing requests first. Thank you for your patience during this very busy time.

Effective the spring 2016 semester until further notice, the use, possession, or storage of hoverboards, including all self-balancing type scooters and hands-free segways, will not be permitted on campus or on any George Fox property.

Contact Mark Pothoff for more information (mpothoff@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2313).

BruinBoards will now host local, part-time job postings

Thursday, August 18th, 2016

As the IDEA Center transitions to Handshake as the new platform for professional internships and jobs, we would like to take the opportunity to inform the campus community about the new way that local businesses and families can connect with our students.

Because local, non-professional jobs are vital to our students’ supplemental income, we want to make sure there is a resource on campus for these employers to connect with students. We will now be posting these opportunities on BruinBoards.

Those looking to post local, part-time opportunities can contact the IDEA Center to request a posting, and students can find them under the “Local Jobs” link on the BruinBoards homepage.

Below is a reference for delineating which system to use:

  • Professional level internships & jobs: Handshake
  • On-campus employment: Handshake
  • Part-time, non-professional jobs in the community (nannies, tutors, baristas, etc): BruinBoards

If you have questions, please contact the IDEA Center at 503-554-2330 or idea@georgefox.edu.

It’s a friendly, fast-paced environment treating some of the nicest students in the country. Even if the individual is currently employed, we would greatly appreciate bringing this position to their attention.

More info on the position can be found at this link, or they can contact Bill Buhrow at 503-554-2340. Thanks for helping us locate the right person for this pivotal position.
