Come check out Community Garden this Saturday

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

Are you interested in gardening, and helping provide healthy, local food for Newberg families? Come out to the university’s Community Garden this Saturday, April 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn more. The garden is north of campus by the soccer field, on the corner of Villa and Crestview.

We will be preparing the garden for the growing season. Even if you won’t be here all summer, you can come help get the space ready.

If you are around all summer and would like to join the garden for the season, we would love to have you! Individual/family plots are available, and we also garden a portion of the space together if you don’t know how to garden yet ($10/student, $15/staff, faculty, or community member).

Extra produce goes to local social service agencies to help feed families in need, after garden members get as much as they can use.

Questions? Contact Cherice Bock at cbock@georgefox.edu.

Info on leaving cars on campus during Juniors Abroad

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

Here is the policy for leaving cars on campus during Juniors Abroad and summer serve trips:

  1. If you can leave your car with a friend off campus that will look after and drive your vehicle, that is preferable, as the university is NOT responsible for any theft or damage to your vehicle while left unattended on campus.
  2. Your car must be left in the Le Shana parking lot and parked close to the building.
  3. All personal belongings must be taken out of the vehicle to avoid tempting a potential thief.
  4. Key MUST be left with Security Services before departure.
  5. Security has a form to be signed, and name and number of emergency contact is needed on the form in addition to your license plate number, make and model of vehicle.
  6. Upon return from the trip, call security at 503-554-2090 to arrange a time with the officer on duty to pick up your key if it is after office hours. Bring photo ID to claim your key.
  7. Any vehicle left on campus without the key being left with security is subject to tow due to Plant Services activity all around campus during the summer.
  8. Do not abandon your car on city streets, as the city of Newberg will tow it as an “abandoned vehicle” after 72 hours!
  9. Enjoy your time abroad!
