  • Peer mentorship
  • Cohort-style classroom experience utilizing LIBA 100

The program is the result of eight months of research and development made possible by the Innovation Grant.

If you know of any entering freshmen who might meet the eligibility requirements, please recommend them to apply to the program or refer them to our office. Applications are due May 15, and space is limited to 20 students.

For more information, feel free to check out the Bridge Scholars webpage or email Connor Smalling at csmalling@georgefox.edu.

Info on leaving cars on campus during Juniors Abroad

Monday, April 24th, 2017

Here is the policy for leaving cars on campus during Juniors Abroad and summer serve trips:

  1. If you can leave your car with a friend off campus that will look after and drive your vehicle, that is preferable, as the university is NOT responsible for any theft or damage to your vehicle while left unattended on campus.
  2. Your car must be left in the Le Shana parking lot and parked close to the building.
  3. All personal belongings must be taken out of the vehicle to avoid tempting a potential thief.
  4. Key MUST be left with Security Services before departure.
  5. Security has a form to be signed, and name and number of emergency contact is needed on the form in addition to your license plate number, make and model of vehicle.
  6. Upon return from the trip, call security at 503-554-2090 to arrange a time with the officer on duty to pick up your key if it is after office hours. Bring photo ID to claim your key.
  7. Any vehicle left on campus without the key being left with security is subject to tow due to Plant Services activity all around campus during the summer.
  8. Do not abandon your car on city streets, as the city of Newberg will tow it as an “abandoned vehicle” after 72 hours!
  9. Enjoy your time abroad!

Would a Friendsview daycare center benefit you?

Sunday, April 23rd, 2017

Unlike several of our peer institutions, George Fox currently has no partnership with a daycare facility near campus. Friendsview Retirement Community (next to campus) is exploring the idea of creating a daycare center.

Friendsview needs your help to determine the level of interest from George Fox students/employees in using the daycare service and in volunteering to ensure it is well-staffed. Click here to take the survey.

In addition to providing a paid service, Friendsview wishes to offer George Fox students the opportunity to earn daycare credit by working alongside volunteers and daycare coordinators. To make the daycare center well-staffed for each school/work day, a sufficient number of volunteers/credit earners will be needed.

The benefits of volunteering in the daycare include firsthand experience related to a class or future career and personal enrichment as you support the George Fox community. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please click the link above.

Questions? Contact Corban Harwood at rharwood@georgefox.edu.

Thanks!

Final performance of ‘Falling’ plays tonight in Wood-Mar Auditorium

Friday, April 21st, 2017

Join us for a special theatre production, Falling, playing in Wood-Mar Auditorium tonight (Saturday). The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

According to the playwright, “The play bravely speaks a truth about love and family and about hopes and dreams. It asks, ‘How do you love someone who is difficult to love?'”

Turn in and pick up your lost and found items before April 28

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

If you have found items around campus, and have yet to turn them in to the lost and found, please get them to the security office as soon as possible so that the owners can claim them before the end of the month.

If you have lost items this spring, please be sure to check for them at security before you leave for the summer. When checking out of your on-campus residence, please do a thorough search of your dressers, closets and kitchens, as custodians found a large amount of forgotten items when cleaning the rooms last May.

Any left-behind items will not be kept all summer, as the lost and found isn’t large enough to store them for four months. All items not claimed by their owners will be donated to charitable causes on Monday, May 1, so please stop by the security office during the next three weeks!

Questions? Contact Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.
