‘Fox @ the Fireside’ event Feb. 15 discusses ‘I am afraid’ exhibit

Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

Please join us for the university libraries’ inaugural ”Fox @ the Fireside” event on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Murdock Learning Resource Center.

Gather around the fireplace with coffee and light refreshments to hear artist Jennifer Lichtenberg discuss her process and answer questions about her “I am afraid” art exhibit on display for Black History Month beginning Feb. 9.

About the exhibit
During the 2016-17 academic year, the Graduate School of Counseling staff and faculty committed themselves to a book group, reading through and processing the work of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between the World and Me. In the book, Coates addresses what it means to inhabit an African American body in today’s America. Jennifer created “I am afraid” in response to Coates’ work.

Check out additional resources on Black History Month and Dr. Clayborne Carson’s lecture on the “Fox @ the Fireside” LibGuide.
