Distinguished alumna Peggy Fowler to speak at next Industry Insiders

Sunday, February 10th, 2019

Peggy Fowler, a 1973 George Fox University graduate in chemistry and math, loves George Fox and is eager to come back to campus to talk to students at the next Industry Insiders on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in Hoover 105.

All are invited to come hear about Peggy’s remarkable professional life and how she broke the glass ceiling.

Peggy began her tenure at Portland General Electric in 1974 as a chemist in the company’s analytical lab and went on to manage almost every major area of the company before becoming PGE’s first female CEO in 2000. A subsidiary of ENRON at the time, Peggy guided PGE through scandal and the biggest bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Bon Appetit hosts cooking workshop for kids on Thursday

Sunday, February 10th, 2019

On Thursday, Feb. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m., Bon Appétit would like to invite the faculty and staff’s elementary school-aged children (K-5) to the kitchen for a workshop featuring activities in healthy eating and cooking.

In this fun and interactive program, Bon Appetit chefs and educators will turn Canyon Commons into a hands-on cooking class for kids, demonstrating how fruits and vegetables can be transformed into a healthy meal. By learning about the connection between what they eat and their ability to do what they enjoy, children will go home with a newfound power to make better choices for their health.

You are welcome to accompany your child during the program, or you can leave him/her with us and use the time for your own productivity. If you choose to leave, we encourage you to join us for our “Healthy Kids Picnic” during the final 20 minutes of the program.

This workshop is free but space is limited; please register here.
