George Fox Football Tickets for Employees

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

George Fox’s football team is proud to welcome you back to another exciting season of Bruin football. Over the last four seasons, the Bruins have led the way in home attendance in the Northwest Conference.

Coming into the 2018 season, the program had two players named to the D3football.com preseason All-American Team, the most of any NWC school. Come out and show your spirit as the Bruins host Howard Payne University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, in their home opener.

All George Fox employees are entitled to free entry into the uncovered general admission bleachers at home football games when they show their George Fox ID at the gate. Children under 10 are also admitted for free. Additional tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance here.

Employees who are interested in purchasing reserved season tickets in the covered grandstands can do so here.

If you have questions, please contact Mckenna Tillotson at mtillotson@georgefox.edu.

All invited to Contemplative Worship on Thursdays this semester

Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

The university community is invited to join professor Paul Anderson and student Anastasia Reinhardt as they lead Contemplative Worship (or, unprogrammed worship after the manner of Friends) on Thursdays in Hoover 250. The gathering will meet each Thursday this semester from 10:50 to 11:40 a.m., and all are welcome.

Academic Resource Center: Help your students get off to a strong start

Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is here to help students with writing, study skills, test-taking strategies, time management and more. Here’s what you can do to help your students get off to a strong start:

  • In all your syllabi, include the standard ARC description provided by Rick Muthiah
  • Talk about the ARC during your classes:
    – Before major papers are due
    – Recommend academic coaching as a way to get support with accountability, time management, study skills and more
  • Consider requiring a visit to the ARC for one of your papers. If you are requiring a visit, please email Maddie Lowen (mlowen@georgefox.edu) to make sure the ARC schedule and consultants are prepared to meet your students’ needs.

If you have any questions, contact Maddie Lowen (mlowen@georgefox.edu).

Water meter testing scheduled this morning in select locations

Monday, August 27th, 2018

The city of Newberg will be testing large water meters for accuracy this morning (Tuesday). During the test, which may last 15 to 30 minutes, the water flow may be reduced or it may be off completely.

Locations for testing – which may result in the water being off completely – are Wheeler, Hobson, Macy and Sutton. Wood-Mar’s meter will also be tested, but the water meter has a bypass, so the interruption in service may not be noticeable in Wood-Mar.

Judging from past experience, the water might look a little cloudy when it runs after the test. If you are concerned, run the faucets a bit to clear the line after testing. Air in the line will make the water look cloudy from the aeration, but the water is fine.

If you have any concerns, please contact the Plant Services office at ext. 2010.
