Here are three tips to protect yourself from Medicare fraud and scams:
- If you get a call, text, or email asking for your Medicare Number, don’t respond. Don’t give your Medicare card or Medicare Number to anyone except your doctor or people you know should have it.
- Check your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) or claims statements carefully. If you see a charge for a service you didn’t get or a product you didn’t order, it may be fraud. If you suspect fraud, report it at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
- Guard your Medicare card like it’s a credit card.
Visit Medicare.gov, the official source for Medicare information, to learn more about preventing Medicare fraud and medical identity theft.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Aga Kasprzyk at akasprzyk@georgefox.edu.

We are looking for several volunteers to serve as ushers at spring undergraduate commencement on Saturday, April 27. There will be two separate ceremonies again this year.
The schedule is as follows:
- 11 a.m.: Cultural & Wellness Enterprises and Adult Degree Program Ceremony
- 3 p.m.: Industrial Enterprise Ceremony
This format allows a more personalized and celebratory atmosphere for our graduates and their families, and like last year, we are calling for “all-community” participation. What a thrill it is to see graduates, their families, and friends come together to celebrate!
Volunteers are vital to the smooth execution of the day’s events and help make the day memorable for our graduates and their guests. This event could not happen without you!
Staff members, please sign up for a time to serve in one of the two ceremonies. A $50 stipend or three hours of time-off (with supervisor approval) is available for those employees not already scheduled to work. Non-employees who volunteer will receive a $50 gift card.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve! Questions? Contact Laurie Fair at lfair@georgefox.edu.

Apartheid in South Africa officially ended 30 years ago, leaving the country with questions about how to replace violence and stark injustice with a functioning democracy, inclusive of all the nation’s citizens.
South Africans turned to a new idea, utilizing truth and reconciliation commissions to expose the reality of apartheid while offering amnesty from prosecution or retaliation to those who told the truth about what they did. This approach was celebrated as a new and better way to deal with injustice and the stark social, political, and economic polarization it created.
Has it worked as hoped? Former George Fox professor Gina Johnson will help us answer that question. Come to Hoover 105 this Monday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. to hear her presentation. The event will be video recorded.
Questions? Please reach out to Ron Mock at rmock@georgefox.edu.
