Support PT’s trip to Africa by purchasing a raffle ticket at upcoming games

Wednesday, January 9th, 2019

The university’s doctor of physical therapy program is hosting a 50/50 raffle fundraiser to help raise funds for its Africa serve trip this summer. Purchase tickets at our table in the lobby or from students walking through the stands during the first half of the men’s basketball games on Jan. 11 and Jan. 15.

When you purchase a raffle ticket, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win half of the money raised from this event. The winner will be announced at halftime.

The two trips to Uganda and Ghana provide opportunities for students to serve a variety of populations and communities, while providing education to other medical students and professionals through the practice of physical therapy.

Thank you for your support and go Bruins!

Courier delivery service expands to five days

Tuesday, January 8th, 2019

Starting this week, the Office of Mail Services is increasing the courier delivery service to five days. The courier will pick up daily at 11:30 a.m. Therefore, anything that needs to go to the Portland Center has to be brought to Mail Services no later than 10:30 a.m.

If you have any questions, please contact Richard Silver at rsilver@georgefox.edu.

Does your vehicle registration need updating?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2019

Have you changed vehicles lately or gotten license plates on a new car? If you have changes in your vehicle registration since you originally registered in 2015, and you haven’t notified Campus Public Safety of the changes, please email Nadine Kincaid (nkincaid@georgefox.edu) with your current vehicle information. She can then override the system to get your registration up-to-date or check to see that what you have listed is still current.

Info needed: make, model, year, color, license plate, state and VIN number. Also, if you’ve moved or changed phone numbers recently, that needs to be updated as well.

If you are finding that you are switching cars frequently with your spouse, but only have the one gratis parking permit, it is easy to purchase a dedicated permit for each vehicle! Just bring $5 cash to the Campus Public Safety office and we can easily issue a new permit to your other car.

And, just a reminder that your staff permit is for your use only, not for your student’s use who attends here! They must register for their own permit unless you drive them to and from school each and every day.

Portland employees: If you are at the Newberg campus frequently, please go ahead and register your vehicle on MyGFU so you won’t be ticketed for non-registration. Thank you!

Have a vehicle situation that is out-of-the-box? Just call 503-554-2090 or write Nadine and we will talk through the options and find the best solution.

Free tickets to Friday’s hoops games available to everyone living in local communities

Tuesday, January 8th, 2019

We’d like to invite Newberg and surrounding communities to join us for a great night of basketball this Friday, Jan. 11, in Miller Gymnasium. The Bruins will host a doubleheader against conference opponent Whitworth University, with the women’s game tipping off at 6 p.m. and the men’s game at 8 p.m.

The George Fox women are ranked No. 12 in the nation and are currently tied with Whitworth atop the Northwest Conference standings. This game will go a long way toward determining the conference champion.

The men’s game will feature our 10-3 (4-0 in conference) Bruins, who are averaging 93 points per game. Whitworth’s men are ranked No. 7 nationally, and the two schools are currently tied for first in the NWC.

This is the best combined start of season for our programs since joining the NCAA. Complimentary tickets will be offered to anyone who provides proof of address in Newberg, Dundee, St. Paul and Sherwood by showing their license.

Contact Elise Trask (etrask@georgefox.edu) with any questions. See you at the games!
