Latest macOS, Catalina, is available

Sunday, December 1st, 2019

IT will be releasing the newest macOS, Catalina, for installation on George Fox computers. It’s important to keep your computer up-to-date by regularly installing the most current macOS, but please be aware that certain older software programs may not work. For example, Apple has decided to drop support for 32-bit applications with this latest upgrade, but the most common applications should work normally (including Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.).

Please be aware that it takes about 30 to 60 minutes to download Catalina depending on your internet speed, and at least another 40 to 60 minutes to install. Also note that during the second step of installing Catalina you will be unable to use the computer.

If you have any questions or are unsure if you have unsupported applications, please contact the IT Service Desk at 503-554-2569.

Join exercise study

Sunday, December 1st, 2019

Students, staff and faculty who are not currently performing weight training exercises are wanted for a study. Subjects are needed for a blood flow restriction exercise study.

Participants will be allocated to either a BFR and exercise group or to an exercise alone group. Participants will be asked to exercise two times a week for about 20 minutes each for eight weeks. Those who complete the study will get $20 and a pizza party.

If you have questions or if you would like to enroll, contact Jason Brumitt at jbrumitt@georgefox.edu.

Please turn in lost valuables in a timely manner

Sunday, December 1st, 2019

As you come across lost items, especially high-value ones, please don’t wait to turn them in to the Campus Public Safety office.

People stop by our office routinely to check for lost items, and it would be most beneficial to reunite them with their items as soon as possible. Waiting weeks or months to turn things in makes it more difficult to find a match.

Thank you for your help in this matter. Questions? Call 503-554-2090 or email Elrike Shaw at eshaw@georgefox.edu
